Can anyone help me?
I have a docks growing in my horses field and wanted to use depitox on them to get rid of them.
I have been told not to graze horses on the field for 3 weeks following application of depitox but also heard that even after using depitox and the weeds are dead you have to remove the dead weeds before returning horses to the field.
Can anyone advise me if this is correct please?

Have a good read of the instructions on the label but I suspect they are just concerned with ragwort which gets more palitable (but no less toxic) when it is dead. Ragwort should certainly be cleared before horses are let on the field again.

Hi
Thanks for your reply I don't have any ragwort in the field only dock leaves and wasn't sure if the horses would be attracted to them once they have died off.
They don't bother with them when they are alive but as I have never used any weed killers on the fields before I wanted to check how other people manage their dock leaf problems and if it is safe to return the horse to the pasture after the recommended 3 weeks without removing the dead weeds

Thanks your right the manufacturer instructions will def be right to follow I'm just over precautious about everything
Will be using it as soon as get a dry weather spell

I have looked at depilox and am not sure if it will kill docks, these are vary difficult to eradicate and you may find this weedkiller will distort the plants but they will later grow out and survive.
Yes it is a broadleafed weedkiller but will not kill all weeds.

Use SBK for best results.
Damage to horses, little or none once sprayed. best if you spot weed always with a sprayer.
The active ingrediance when mixed with water and sprayed over the fields is insignificant, and the chances of horses taking in any poisen is minute.
You use more poisen in a wormer than in the horse eating grass.

Grazon 90 definitley kills docks but they did discontinue it I think? as I managed to get hold of a bottle last year. But I think everyone was going on about headland polo?>(I have no idea what the chemicals are) but grazon was keep off for 3 weeks. I use to try to leave it for a bit longer and make sure a good downpour of rain had happened. I never picked up dead stuff but agree with the ragwort if that dies should pick it up.

If you get the docks early enough you could just spot spray them depends how much ground you have to do.
