Does anyone know any weedkillers that are actually safe to use around horses, that will be able to be okay with horses still in the field with the chance of them accidentally eating a sprayed plant, needs to kill docks and thistle. Many thanks

Not horses but I do all my weeds by hand / jet wash the driveway now as even one without the toxic glyphosate left my dog at the vet .. from just it being in the air... flame gun assuming not near anything that would catch

I've chopped bits down and it does help reduce them but I've decided to get the farmer to spray mine this year, I asked him about stuff that I could use that would not harm them and he said the same as polo's mum.

I've got a main field and a small paddock so I'm going to just do one field at a time so they can stay off the sprayed bit.

Could you electric fence off half fir them while they do the other half?

I'm getting my paddocks properly fenced into two this year for precisely that reason. Atm the dividers are round posts & electrical rope, which might as well not be there for the Shetland...

We use Grazon and spray with animals in the field. Only spot spraying though. Dogs are kept away from it till dry. Benn doing this for about 10 years with no adverse effects. My sister has a spraying licence.
