I didn't want to hijack the post lower down because it's kind of the reverse problem.
Daisy goes through phases where she seems to want to wee and stands still but nothing comes out. She is allowed to stop when she wants to go but will often just stand there for ages not going, occassionally trying to eat. If she doesn't move her legs or her tail I tend to assume that shes putting it on and ask her to walk on after a minute or so of me standing up in my stirrups whistling. On Saturday we spent about 10 minutes stopping, standing, whistling, walking on two paces and then repeating she clearly wanted to go but why doesn't she just go the first time? Having seen riding school ponies do this to take advantage I had wondered if she was just doing it as a form of napping but it does seem that she wants to go in the end, just takes a really long time to get her legs out and get on with it. Its not consistent though, most hacks she will just stop and go.
