It was a lovely morning here on Saturday - felt like Spring had sprung... sun shining, nice and warm, perfect riding weather.
So I tacked the ginger spacehopper up, and led her to the field with Ivy and Byter, slipped them through the fencing and sneaked Asti back out. Had a few words with Ginge going back up the field as she wasn't too chuffed at not being let loose but she settled after a few prances... so I was just hanging on to her and changing my boots when there was an almighty clatter and the evil-Ivy-spawn of satan came galloping into the yeard, leaving 5' long skid marks in the concrete - pretty good when she has no shoes on!
So I'm on my own, hanging on to Asti with the spotty polar bear careering around flat out in a field she shouldn't be in... so I had to lead Asti BACK to the winter field after turning the electric off, through mud and water over my jod boots (not happy!!!) and hope spawn of satan followed... which she did, but wouldn't come back into the field she should be in and careered round another one leaving massive holes in it. I couldn't catch her.
So... what next? Had to unfasten the winter field gate (tied back and there is a small electric enclosure instead, that Ivy demolished) and take down the electric enclosure, well what was left of it , and untack Asti and put her in the field with Byter. Now she's fully clipped and was then without a rug. So I legged it back up the field, got a rug, got a bucket of mix to rattle for the spotty troll... got back less than 2 mins later - and Asti had rolled - wet and muddy from head to foot!
Anyway, the bucket rattling worked, got the little git into the field, whipped Asti's boots off and stuck her rug on over her mudpack and stomped off in a huff... no riding for me then!
So yesterday - I learned my lesson and left the trouble causer and her mum in while I went out riding. It was a lovely day and had some quality time with the ginger one. Got a few comments about her bright legwear though... but we have to ride on a mad road to get out and these really stand out!!!
The view on the way back home
I think I'm spoiled with the riding round here, its difficult to get to, but worth it...
