Who has weekend plans, including those heading to Burghley in person or by screen?

I had a sj training session this morning, joined hacking chum for a decent lesson. Nothing huge or over 75 but a lot of agility work required from B as we had off set and angled fences, some with a place pole. The pole really helped B get her toes under her, use her back and made her think more. Came away v knackered but pleased.
Light hack tomorrow and longer hack Saturday.
RC has a drill ride session with the trainer who does the military musical rides, so we will pootle along yo fo something v different ?
Photo from last week when we did arena hire with friends, as none taken this morning.

What plans do you have?

Humpy?

Sorry, couldn't resist that, are they meaning she sways about a bit at present?

It’s a combination of her being narrow in front, up behind a bit, expanding preggers belly giving the feeling you are a bit perched!! Delightful. Especially compared to my other 3yo who was like sitting on a sofa.

Real plans this weekend. I have a dressage lesson on Saturday which I’m slightly terrified about. Jumping lessons you can hide a bit more but I think the instructor will find loads to work on with us. (Mostly me!) and then dressage league on Sunday.

met up with friends last night and they went in the sea. I had my roadwork boots on so didn’t really want Tali going in but she wanted to follow them in so I caved and just had to wash them when we got home. So a bootless jaunt to the beach tonight I think and hoping for a canter or 2.

My back’s buggered which tends to put me out of action for a week ?. So not sure if I’ll make it to burghley on Saturday.

Pole work lesson last night may not have helped - oops! We struggled a bit with something quite basic (trotting over raised poles). Not sure Bertie’s done much of that as he didn’t seem to get that he could just trot over them, which resulted in some tension (from both of us) which we then needed to work on. Got much more relaxed work from us both eventually but it’s surprising how something so simple can actually end up being quite tricky.

Local county show visit for me. Not showing just watching as my driver is still out of action after his run in with naughty young ponies a month ago.
A friend is taking hers and is hinting she needs help prepping - I've been avoiding getting involved as it starts being expected constantly, but she has a spare ticket and no groom for the day and I have nothing better to do. Might be a nice day out if I take my own car I can always stay on and wonder round on my own once she's gone off with the lorry. I see how i feel tomorrow I think.

Then I'll take little Reggie out for another adventure and Robin can do some long reining round the resting field again.

Have fun everyone.

This week my core strength has gone. It’s so weird as still riding and as active as normal but the chemo drugs is hitting in unexpected ways. I got bucked off on something I wouldn’t even move on normally. So I have decided to stop jumping as the horse is quite wriggly and feisty. I have got a personal trainer lined up to help me get it back as want to be ahead of the curve ASAP before next season. If I am not eventing I am not spending money…. So might as well go on something useful.
In the good news it looks like I should get my regionals for My Quest after a last dash on Wednesday.

Well I may have overcooked this one as my flight lands in Gatwick at 5am and I need to leave the yard with the two horses for camp at 7.30am..

And Bog has had 10 days holiday and coming in from the field like a lunatic I have heard!

So in theory we are off to Unicorn in the cotswolds for an event camp.

Yard friendly dressage on Sunday. We are doing Novice 30. We always come last as I struggle to get J in front of my leg and most of the other 3 or so people who enter that class are instructors with many many years experience on me but we have fun regardless. Joe is well established in all the required movements and the test is more interesting than Prelim!

Unicorn is gorgeous Michen, hope you have a great time! And how was the holiday?
I'm working all weekend, but will try and watch a bit of Burghley round it.

Well the diving wasn’t quite what I expected but I ended up on a boat that was mostly army doctors so the trip itself- entertaining ?? thanks for asking!

I love unicorn so looking forward to going back there although a little worried at what Bog is going to do to me. I did FaceTime him from the boat so maybe he will be kind.

Just in from a great first day at Burghley Horse Trials.

For the Thursday we had been invited to the VIP hospitality hosted by Land Rover. This involved having breakfast, a 3 course lunch and afternoon tea. Along with free champagne ?.

We also had an afternoon talk hosted by Clare Balding with Carl Hester and Harry Meade (which I got to get photos with and chat to). They were all lovely. We also then had a guided course walk (well driven around in brand new Range Rovers ?) with Matthew Heath, with more champagne half way round!

Finally we also got given grand stand tickets to sit right behind A which was amazing!

Wow, that looks amazing shortstuff!

I am up for camp! Just swigging a cup of tea before washing the grey one  and doing beds while he is turned out to dry off and have a munch. We will leave before 10, very exciting!

Quite sad though too, as this is our last proper adventure before I pull his shoes and put him on holiday until Xmas. He has until the shoes wear out, we have a couple of dressage lessons still to come, but essentially, this year, that will be it.

Working. Yawn.
The crop has been cut so we’ve got stubble to play on, which will be my evening activities.
My first niece/nephew is due this weekend, so that’s quite exciting. SIL still looks very neat and ‘high up’ so baby might keep us waiting a bit longer. If it’s anything like my brother it will be late!

What a fabulous day! I am quite jealous :D

I'm off for a riding lesson this morning. Back to RS 1 to try with a different instructor; much as I appreciate the first instructor was very knowledgeable, the 'vibe' was really off and it wasn't particularly enjoyable which is an essential ingredient of my 30 mins of horse time per week/fortnight! Annoyingly RS 2 don't seem to have anything on for the next couple of months (apart from early evening groups which I can't get to in time from work) which I really wish I was aware of before going for a couple of lessons and falling in love with one of the horses!

Also enquired about a share. I think it might not go anywhere but have asked just in case as the horse sounds really lovely.
