My current plan is to rip out the inner of the lorry roof on Saturday and work out why it's leaking and then head to Ickworth for the pony club hunter trial on Sunday...whether either of those things will happen, however, is in the lap of the weather G-Ds!

Have a good one,
V

Was meant to be doing BE100 at Farley Hall on Sunday but all this rain has scuppered that. Not sure if it will go ahead but my boy hates deep ground so not for us. Think we'll head to Parwood on Saturday for BSJA discovery and 1.05m instead.

We were meant to be doing some SJ this weekend but horse came in from field today with a big cut on a back leg so that's out :(.
Guess I'll be either plastering or trying to get bitumen off concrete in the new house then <sigh>.

I have the wee coloured job inhand at the Highland Show! Getting a bit excited now as he missed out last year due to a clerical error - we entered him in the wrong class lol!

That's rotten luck DF :(

I'm very glad this has been started today as my horsey weekend starts tomorrow. Off to an all day xc/sj clinic, it was due to be at Coombelands but we've relocated to Parwood due to the rain. Very excited but nervous as it's a longer drive and I've not been there before, and I always get a bit antsy about taking the lorry to new places.

Other than that, no plans as very busy with work still, so will try to fit in a couple of nice hacks if the weather plays ball.

Good luck to all competitors and look forward to all the show reports next week :D

Parwood is very easy to get to. Straight off a main road so no wiggly narrow roads to navigate. Fortunate in that I can hack there!

Thanks star and lucky you! I think I have wiggly roads to get there in the first place but will double check my route now.

Starting canter work again with B... Fittening him up after his sore feet for a ODE in a few weeks, hoping he will be ready!

Shouldn't be any narrow roads anywhere near Parwood. If you come down off the A31 it's one road straight there or if you come from the A323 it's also all A roads. Hope your XC goes ahead as we're under water here tonight!

A bit jealous of you all leaving the ground jumping! In a mad fit of ridiculousness I entered myself and my friend into the unaffiliated dressage at Eland Lodge on Sunday. Nothing exciting there I hear you say............but what you don't realise is that we're taking two of our ex racer horseball horses that have never done dressage! I was meant to be taking Dangerous Brian who has actually done a few tests before but he's been a bit foot sore this week so I have been practising on Lloyd and he's just been a superstar so I think he deserves to take his chance.

I'm just hope that they behave and that we have a lovely day and someone takes a nice picture!

Good luck to everyone competing, after our exploits last weekend we've got a couple of weekends off now with dressage training in the week before our RC Area ODE on the 9th, after our last ODE it's dressage bootcamp all the way :p

Went to the highland show and became an actual adult with actual long boots to my name!

Always had ariats but these were the best fit (the ariats were purgatory and would have needed loads of breaking in probably to the degree I couldn't have faced it!) so I hope the zips behave as I said I wouldn't buy from them having read a recent thread in TR about them.

Scuppered it for "A" and myself too. So nice to see you again at Rackham . Good luck in the discovery .

They're gorgeous!

Oooh i got these for best from Badminton and they're super comfy! have taken no breaking in and the zips seem really robust. Did you get an Air Jacket too?

Not much with my horsey this weekend, we went to Hickstead yesterday which was great fun and very expensive on the credit card! Feeling a bit inspire i entered the festival of Dressage at Sparsholt in th way home in the unaffiliated classes, so that'll be exciting!

Full day of Rugby today and not a lot going on tomorrow!

GORGEOUS!!! What make are they?

Had a good clinic day yesterday, will do a separate write-up about it later.

Thanks girls they are tredstep donatellos. As you say LP I felt like I could have ridden in them immediately. I think the ariats probably would be tougher long term but I don't compete that much and the breaking process for the ariats might have meant I didn't ever wear them!

There was only one air jacket in the entire show and that was a too small point 2! However have found a shop a mere 5hr round trip who stocks hit air so we are planning a day trip for tomorrow. I had a scare the other day and nearly fell off when my rock steady cob leapt in the air over a piece of polythene. Had I come off, it would have been to land on my back on tarmac so that shook me up enough to be put off riding completely til I get it

I managed a training morning and a small arena trec competition on the scatty mare as my safe girl is poorly again. I certainly wouldn't have been brave enough without my hit air jacket! She came 2nd because of good control of paces despite not doing 4 obstacles! Good fun and back home before the thunderstorm and hail stones!

I have Ariat Heritage field Boots too and they took a while to break in and also are falling apart after a year of daily use, but to be fair i haven't really looked after them all that well but still!

FW if your ribs are still tender i would advise not to let them inflate the jacket on you, especially without a body protector as whilst the hit air does expand outwards it can still become quite tight when its inflated, i cant see that this quick squeeze would be good for your delicate ribs - it will be worth it though - mine has been through the ringer this year and i have bounced up and walked away from what would be some nasty falls!

Toddled off to BS at Parwood today. Had to hack there as lorry is broken. Took pony to the burger van in between classes as I needed a drink. Felt like being a kid again! He is such a good pony though. We did Disc and 1.05m after our little hack. Next week he is doing another Advanced BD and then onwards to Tweseldown for a BE100 plus the following week. Versatile little dude he is! We had 2 down in the 2nd phase of both classes but they were just unlucky rubs and we didn't have any horrid dodgy stride moments which is always a bonus! 1.05m 2nd phase is also starting to look slightly less terrifying which is a bonus! Just a quiet day at home tomorrow I think. Hope everyone else's weekends are going well.

Fab stuff star, he really is a dude your boy. I love the idea of visiting the burger van, but hopefully no horses other than yours there!!

And FW those boots do look v smart.

Weather is disrupting our plans. WH style clinic was rained off yesterday. Annoying as I'm thinking of taking him to a couple of wh shows in July and we need the ring practice. But the sun shone for a flatwork clinic today at a friends yard. Really pleased with how he went, and some good tips to practice at home.

It feels like slow progress but, from not being able to turn right, we can now manage a passable 20m circle in W T and C and he managed 6 raised trot poles in my lesson on Thursday. When we started he would clatter over two poles on the ground. So generally feeling pretty pleased with the little dude right now.

Just the burger van ?, what happened to his ice cream van visit.

Sounds like everyone is having/has had fun! I've utterly failed at getting the bitumen off the floor so god knows what we're going to do there (suggestions anyone? The room is 25m2 and floor is covered). And while scraping some paint about 80% of the plaster fell off one wall and it looks like there's a damp problem!

I'm seriously considering going back to renting.

A bit of cob showing, the judge will be shaken not stirred.

We had a nice morning and the cart cob kept the turbulence to a minimum. Impulsion was generated by hounds parading in the next ring, they blew gone away just at the right moment and that got the gallop going well.

Sadly the class was not well supported with only 5 in it. The hunters had 8 and the smalls 6. The best supported class was the ROR. I do think if these small unaff annual shows are not better supported we will see the end of them which would be a real pity.

Well Done AA! Your cob is lovely! It's good to see the ROR classes supported, they aren't very full up here. The biggest class I have been in in the last 3 years was a whole, massive 3 competitors!

My coloured job is bathed, primped, preened and ready to go! There are 15 is his class and he is the only shetland in amongst the hairy cobs so at least we will stand out for being the smallest! Roll on tomorrow for play day at the Highland!
