I know this is early, but I am excited/nervous as this weekend we are actually doing something. We're going to camp! :D

Cant wait, but I am a little nervous, more so that I will forget something. Going to go and check my list of stuff to take now. :D

Hope you have fun. Just back from one last weekend. A bit eventful but had a blast and it was great for building confidence. Hope it's the same for you, but maybe with less of the drama that my group had !

Bernster, sounds intriguing, I hope we're going to get a full report!
Rach enjoy camp, it will be fun.

We are going to my first ever ode tomorrow at Borde Hill, feeling rather nervous already. Off to walk the course with the trainer this afternoon - although it's UA they are treating it as their BE training ones which is brilliant.

After a busy week at work (still got to get through today yet!) we're actually going off competing tomorrow! Doing a couple of novice tests to get our final Area Festival sheets. They're proving pretty elusive and we've had a pretty rubbish season so far so I'm not hopeful! Have a lovely time those going to camp and good luck JennBags!

Looking forward to the camp reports.

I have a SJ lesson today. Hiring a xc course on Monday and an arena on Tuesday for my daughter to ride both her ponies we are selling, to get some decent videos and also because we have our special super groom coming to visit. Might take Daisy xc schooling on Tues.

Not the weekend I know but it's how I roll!

Good luck to all those out competing and for those at camp , have a great time!
well we have rather an exciting but also tinged with a bit of sadness weekend coming up, which I am afraid is not horse related.

I havent mentioned this before, but a little over a month ago we very sadly lost one of our beloved dogs in a horrible freak accident while away camping on the Isle of Wight.
So we have been struggling to come to terms with that for the last few weeks, made worse by losing, back in January my lovely spaniel bitch who is mum to my remaining dog. ( hers was down to old age, but still losing two in six months has just been heartbreaking) anyway we have decided to start again with a new pup, we collect her today and we are so excited, we have always had working cockers, but OH couldnt cope with the thought of trying to replace his lovely boy with another cocker, think he was worried that he would be comparing all the time, so we have a lovely springer bitch called Megan :-)

Good luck to competitors and campers! Hope tomorrow brings you much joy monte1

I had planned to go to a SJ clinic tomorrow with Dangerous Brian and a friend that has taken on one of my other horses. Some extra spaces have come available so we're doing the first session with Brian and George and then flying back to the yard to swap those two for Lloyd and Tiger and going back to do another session!! Team skanky ex racer will be out in force!

Can we have pictures of the pup! thats so exciting, good luck with it - sorry to hear about you other dog, its completely heart breaking but hopefully the puppy will help towards filling the gap in the famil. We lost our rescued Pointer bitch a couple of months ago, we're looking for another rescue but its definitely not been easy!

Our weekend started early as we had evening dressage last night at a local venue - we did P2 and P19 - P2 felt nice and amenable but didn't feel great as the area wasn't great so she felt quite unbalanced throughout, was amazed to hear we'd won with 71.55%. Warm up was in a field on a hill, warming up on grass obviously means we were eventing and logic says after one dressage test we must be going jumping! So the second warm up was a bit tense and flat and canters were fast and pretty unbalanced so i wasn't hoping for much as it was a very unlevel 20x60 grass arena. I felt she was listening and off my leg, which was my aim after our last dressage she felt very fat, flat and lazy, but we had a bit too much speed and not as much accuracy as i'd have liked but the undulations in the arena meant it was hard to keep her balanced and not lobbing around heavy and on the forehand. Again very shocked to see a score of 69.09% putting us in second just behind my friend on 69.5%! Was a great outing for the yard as between the 3 of us we managed 1st and second in 3 of the 4 classes running!

So a quiet day today either a hack or a lunge, hack again tomorrow and then the Portman PC ODE at Chisel farm on Sunday!

Morning all, Mike is off SJ'ing on Sunday - we thought it was on last week but the venue posted on FB on Saturday to say it had been incorrectly advertised :-/ He had a great grid work lesson on Wednesday so will be hoping to put that into practice.
Then I'll be popping up to see my lovely big girly who has been formally retired now :( sadly she wasn't able to stay sound in work although there's nothing to see on a scan or x-ray, she's still like an eedjit in the field but then feels it when on hard ground. Some friends asked if they could use her as a broodmare (she's well bred, great conformation and character), so she's gone to them where she will receive excellent care and hopefully breed them their next side saddle horse :)

Very sadly not going to camp now. Brought the horse in this morning to get shod for camp and he has a deep cut just above his hoof which has made him lame. So can't go now. :( Not sure how he managed it but guessing he stood on himself.

Really disappointed and kind of wondering when will we ever be able to go out to places? Every time we try something goes wrong. :( Haven't been able to take him out anywhere since May.

Sod all, again! M is still on field rest (though vet has said she should be OK to bring into work at the end of the month) and the MOT'd Discovery has gone kaput in a big way.

I hope everyone enjoys whatever they're doing, and good luck to all those competing/going to lessons/going to camp :).

If I'm out of uni in enough time, we are taking my 4 year old to do a baby clear round class!! Will be his first time ridden away from home....

Having had a go at a MyQuest competition a couple of weeks ago, we're having a go at our first "proper" BD tomorrow. Doing a couple of Prelim Bronze classes so wish me luck! I've got an early start that wouldn't look out of place at BE, never mind BD.... :/ I shall be dragging myself out of bed before 5am in order to be on board at 8am, as need to plait in the morning. I also need to find some time to learn my tests... maybe I should be doing that instead of procrastinating on the internet ;)

Good luck to everyone competing.

That is such utterly rotten luck. Poor you :( I try not to get excited about anything horsey ever for this very reason!!!!

I swear he knows. Last year everytime i tried to get a lesson with a particular instructor the horse went lame a day or two before so I had to cancel or find another horse. Sadly another horse wasn't an option this time or I would have done that.

Most annoying thing? When I put him out to the field he went trotting away and then rolled. I felt like going and dragging him back out but he was lame on the hard ground at the stables and i couldn't use a horse for a long weekend knowing it wasn't right. Just really annoyed and disappointed.

Gutted to have no plans :( withdraw from ALW fence judged there all day today and the 80 course looks mega :'(
So just a dressage lesson for me tomorrow

Good luck have fun everyone

Oh noooo is horse ok?? We are going on sun- hope the 90 didn't look too scarey!

Oh Rach I am sorry. That's rotten luck :(

Another vote for puppy pics please!

Just been to walk the course at Borde Hill, err wow it's a bit meaty for an 80!

Oh Rach I am sorry. That's rotten luck :(

Thanks. We will get other chances to go to camp again so it's not too bad just really annoying that we didn't go this year. Checked him again tonight though and his fetlock was hot again so cold hosed it again and left him in over night. Dunno if I made the right call there but I want limited movement on the wound so it has a chance to heal. However there is a chance i will find a horse tomorrow with a swollen leg and cellulitis again so 50/50.

Della moved to her new yard on Thursday (not really happy with you new yard so I'm hoping we won't be there very long but that's another story) so having done a couple of days settling in work she will have today off and then we're off to a Bill Levitt XC clinic at Lyneham Heath on Sunday :) (if anyone wants a space PM me as I no the organiser was struggling for numbers)

Need puppy pics :)

Good luck to everyone competing today x

We are off to a local rc show tomorrow with 5yo son's new pony to do x pole working hunter pony. She is first ridden pony but I might lead him as it's our first time and then let him do sj on his own.

Tack all cleaned and she has been bathed and trimmed. Wee monster grew her winter coat while we were away last week so is a trifle fluffy :(

Not a great day for us today;

4am alarm. 9.30 dressage, warmed up super and just hot enough that she was an easy ride without being a prat. couple of small communication errors, eventually got score of 31.something quite disappointed as thought it was a much more mid 20's test but still in second place with no-one scoring below 30. but super pleased with how rideable and soft the test was :D

But then the ground was awful at Sj'ing and XC, Hard with grass coverage :( A slip before the first fence really shook us both and i felt i couldn't ride her as forward as i wanted so she jumped oddly over one, i lost reins and stirrups and just couldn't keep her on the line for two so 20pens for a run out. jumped the rest clear but didn't feel great, i rode like a plonker and she was a bit sharp, probably upset by the slip.

Debated about going XC but decided we'd start and see how it went. After fence two realised how slippy it was so pulled back the gears, fence 5 was down hill then left hand up the hill to 6, i couldn't turn left for fear of wiping out. eventually got to 7 where i saw a shoe come flying past my head, so made my way to the next field and pulled up and retired. Wasn't confident carrying on, her confidence and enthusiasm is to precious to ruin it for no reason so we walked home in one piece, happy and fit - disappointed but there is always another day!

Oh Leanne, I'm sorry about your day but you definitely items did the right thing in saving her for another day. You both look very smart :)

Woo-hoo GO FW! That confidence will be brimming over before you know it x

Ahhhh she looks fab! I am mildly impressed with B this weekend having managed to achieve the worst dressage of the section in his first 90 and actually cantered out of the arena over the boards at one point!
