And a favour... anyone Warwickshire way who can tell me how the weather/ground has been? I haven’t been in the country for a while but hear the south has been pretty dry.

Bog and I are off to Moreton Morrell on Saturday hopefully, I like to make things as hard for myself as possible and have about 40 hours to get from my current location in Mexico and up the centre line via Canada ?. With clean tack and a plaited horse. At least I will have plenty of air time to learn my dressage so there’s no excuse to go wrong!

Hope everyone has nice pony plans..!

Probably more stupid really! Better than the other week though going straight from Gatwick at 5am to an eventing camp. At least there’s a nights sleep in between landing and eventing this time.

@Michen I’m also in awe! Took me several days to get back in the saddle after coming back from holiday ?your dedication is inspiring.

we were supposed to have dressage league on Sunday but there’s been a confirmed strangles case so everything up here has been cancelled/postponed. Think the pony is supposed to be doing ok so that’s good.

back from a hack this evening. We just went solo and surprisingly she was better by herself than she was with company the other day. She used to be so much better with company but she seemed a bit down the other day and out of sorts. After we dropped them off half way round she seemed better. Tonight she seemed much happier and her cheeky self. So I’m not sure what that’s about. I would like to hopefully get out with her field mate and see what she’s like with her over the weekend but it’s puzzled me a bit.

unfortunately couldn’t get on the beach tonight for a canter but it was nice down there. Although this was taken before 7 and the suns going down ?

Viewed two horses this morning - 700 miles covered in a little over 24hrs ?☠️

I had decided to go ahead and get one of them vetted but someone else is viewing the horse tomorrow and I won’t be pushed into rushing and potentially losing money if they somehow manage to get in there first.

Why is horse shopping so difficult? ? thinking unseen might be the way to go as it’s just such a faff trying to get cover in place for the horses and dogs.

Probably absolutely nothing horsey, but instead all the fun of moving house. Although the lift in my block of flats has just broken, for the third time this week, so moving may be aborted if it isn't working again by Saturday. In which case, I'll be hacking Blue solo again. Last time, she nearly killed a cyclist by backing into him, I had to dismount twice to get her to go forward, and we nearly ended up in a ditch. Whatever I end up doing, wish me luck, because I'll need it!

It’s very stressful not going to lie I bought another one back end of last year unseen never done it in my life before but they were amazing to deal with was overwhelmed a few times but things were going in matter of hours subject to vettings ect , especially as I wanted connie / Irish breeding x

I've been wanting to write in one of these for ages and typically sign on to the forum the week I'm not really doing anything different. For me it dressage lesson Friday evening, two jumping lessons Saturday afternoon (one with my pony, one with a school horse) and hoopers Sunday morning with the dog. I'd like to fit in a short hack with my old lady and a longer hack on Sunday with my pony to try and keep the weight off her. Oh and find time to sleep somewhere along the way!

I'm taking Chilli to his first fun ride this afternoon - the RDA sponsored ride at Blenheim. I did it a few years ago and it was a very quiet affair, there are no jumps and being on a Friday it's not too busy so hopefully it's a nice introduction for him.

A quiet weekend after that, I'll probably hack Indio tomorrow and then my non-horsey OH wants a riding lesson on him! Let's see if he bottles it ;)

The 5yr old is going to a dressage lesson tomorrow- first outing since his attempted self-limb-amputation and subsequent surgery 11 weeks ago. He may be a little wild o_O
Then the racehorse is having another bash at a walk and trot dressage test on Sunday where the only aim is to look a bit more like an ex-racehorse than last time

You’re bonkers Michen ? I’m exhausted just reading that!

Have stupidly entered for 2 dressage tests on Sunday. I’m terrible at remembering them, haven’t practised enough, and there are bits which we won’t do well based on current stage of training. But I keep telling myself we’re doing them 1 to visit a new venue ahead of a RC qualifier that I’ve also foolishly entered and 2 to see how he is doing 2 tests in a day. But ofc I don’t want to go and be terrible either! I’ll try and remember that we do these things for fun ?

I did munstead jump judging last weekend and they looked after us really well. We got fed and watered regularly and each got a voucher for xc course hire although I suspect I won’t get to use that until next season but it’ll be something to look forward to.

Next week is a big week for Finn, he’s going into the RVC for a new fangled melanoma treatment which should help with the ones around his head/poll. He’s also having surgery for the ones around his tail/bum. He’s horribly needle shy and not a great patient, so I’m hoping they’ll be able to complete the treatment ??

My yearling was gelding a few days ago and all went well. I wanted to keep him intact, atleast awhile longer, but such is life when you have to keep them on livery.

As for the weekend and weekends in general, I should probably come back to these threads when I actually have something to ride ? hoping that I can find a share once we move (omg, we fly to the US next week!). I entertained the idea of buying a second horse but it turns out that OH didn't find that so entertaining. ? but realistically, I can't spend that much money on this hobby right now, it'd be foolish, selfish, and stupidly short sighted...we've got a lot to buy with this move and some other projects that I want done ASAP. So I'm going to network for a share while the young one grows. I do regret buying this young, I'll admit.

So, nothing from me. Just enjoying my last weekend here ?

Ooh @Bernster, what’s the new fangled melanoma treatment? I’m always on the lookout as my boy has them under his tail and in his sheath. So far options have been limited to laser surgery or the vaccine…

No fun plans for me. Sucks to be grounded with a massive bump and can’t wait to be back on board!

Good luck with the big move CC! It sounds like your life has been turned upside down in recent months. Your youngster looks lovely and I'm sure the time will fly - I bought Chilli as a weanling but had to retire my other boy years earlier than expected. Like you I looked for a loan and found a good 'stop-gap' for 18 months, fingers crossed you also get lucky!

Michen you’re mad!

Can’t get a lesson (despite knowing empty slots are available, just not released ?) so may instead aim to go to South of England over the weekend. Haven’t been to an event all year!

Dressage lessons for both boys on Saturday, and then some very specific water jump related XC schooling on Sunday for the thoroughbred. Nice to have the young one back in work after his month on holiday - he's such a sensible chap, I tacked up and hacked out after a month off and he was just like he'd been ridden the day before. Looking forward to a couple of months of focused dressage work with him before we get into winter SJ training.

Yeah, options are so limited. I’ve only used the vaccine so far and it may have slowed the growth down but they really don’t know if it works that well. I saw an article from the RVC, who are my vet practice, and then had a chat with my vet, and then the surgeon who developed it. I’m so pleased he’s a candidate! It’s early days so they don’t have a huge amount of data but some cases have seen a significant improvement ?

I’m not very good at posting threads but I plan to do a report in the vet section of HHO as it might be interesting for others.

I've got covid, I'd done well to avoid it, but here it is. So no fun for me this weekend, and I'm gutted as it's the big affiliated show at my favourite venue this weekend. £300 in entries and stabling down the drain. I know it caused a lot bigger problems, but it was the 2nd affiliated show I could do this year, and now we have to wait until September 2023. I'm getting my head around it, and it will drive me to be really prepared for 2023 :)

Yeah, my life has been tossed into a blender, essentially. I think I'm just antsy at the moment because I don't physically have the youngster ? trying to get a flight for him and things are moving do painstakingly slow.

I actually have a lot to do once we get to our new place, so will be glad not to have a ridden horse for a bit. I've got a lead on a share already, and I think there will be more options once I get there and network a bit. I don't think I'll find anything dressage oriented, but I just need to keep some basic level of riding going so I don't climb aboard my youngster for the first time not having ridden for almost 2 years.

No riding for me (booo!) but I might go and watch some of the Cotswold Cup on Sunday. Hopefully going to see a potential new share horse next week and planning to see if I can book a visit to see my previous share horse, I'm missing her immensely!
