So, from one extreem to the other.. Sat. i was at West Wilts with Socks doing the PAVO 5yr olds.. Sunday i was at Bicton with Coral doing the veteran over 25s showing class! haha

So, Socks.. i was pleased with his test, everything in the right place at the right time to score a 33, which i was pleased with..

SJing, he suddenly turned into a right yob who thought he knew best about everything.. well maybe he was right, as he jumped a pretty smart clear round!

XC.. we've been having silly mistakes which we had yet again today, gave me a fab ride till we got to the half coffin, ditch first which he hadn't noticed and then slammed on the breaks, he then had a strop about it, before jumping it and the rest of the course nicely.. so, if he hadn't done that he'd have finished about 13th, as it was we finished right down the order!! but i guess pleased enough for his 2nd PN

Coral today in his showing class..
What a joke is all i can say.. if i can work out how to get the video online, you can all have a laugh at it..
Coral stuck out like a sore thumb, in a good way.. i've shown horses to HOYS/RIHS standard before, so i do slightly know what i'm doing.. and to me Coral even tho he's 25 looked and went like a HOYS riding horse.. he was stunning!! to the point that he looked nothing like a veteran!! So maybe that's why the judge put him 3rd.. the one that came 2nd really did have one foot in the grave, so i'm guessing that the judge was so impressed it managed to stay alive till the end of the class she had to give it a prize.. the one that came 1st was ok, tho nothing stunning and moved a bit pottery (where as Coral still swings everything)... my only thought is that he didn't look like a veteran, but i thought that was the whole point of those classes, the winner is the one that looks best for their age!!

Ho hum.. that's showing for you i guess.

Well done other than the ditch - which caused lots of trouble in the PN sounds like you had a great time!

And showing remains a mystery to me! Bit like dressage...!

VHS classes are a lottery and a bit of a joke. Shame, as they could be promoting fantastic looking veteran horses and some judges just want to put the poor old horses at the top and the better looking ones at the bottom, as they can "still do other jobs". I can never understand why lame and stiff horses that are reluctant to move are class winners over others. Stick to proper stuff!!!
Well done with Socks though.

Well done - thats showing for you tho!!

Sounds like Socks was good too

Good boy Socks though for the dressage and sj, and almost on the xc! He is lovely, still selling him?

Yes, at some point.. trouble with all these silly mistakes, however silly i think they are, they're still there messing up his record.. i just want a couple of better results to sell him on first.. unless someone wants him as he is haha.. i do love riding him tho

he's so easy and a joy to take round to events.. he has Charlton Park.. Mount Ballen and then prob. Aldon to finish on..

Sorry you had a bad day and didn't get what you think you should've but there isn't any need to say such bitchy comments about other competitors! Grow up and be more sporting!

I do not personally think that is a bitchy comment about either horse. Its a personal opinion. I am judging this weekend and one of the classes is a veterans qualifier I personally will be looking for the best horse/pony there who looks great and moves well rather than just judging them on age so I think her comment is justified and pertinant.
