We had some awful weather here in South Wales at the weekend. Rain, wind, hail, thunder and lighting - coupled with a good dose of flooding. Electricity went off for several hours on Saturday - but luckily came back on around 6.00pm.

The horses went out with some reluctance on Saturday - but everything came in very gratefully on Saturday night (even the out 24/7 horses). Nothing went out yesterday - but all were content to be warm and dry in their stables and the barn, munching on hay and watching the weather from a distance.

How did every else get on????

Just carried on regardless!

Although the weather didn't cause many problems..apart from a bad hair day!

Saturday was lovely down in the south east actually !!!

Sunday was bloomin awful - picked that day to wean my mare and foal also so loaded mummy into the lorry and it took me 1 and half hours to do a 45 min journey - then had to go and buy my naughty 2yo a new rug as he had killed his one !!! got back and turned baby out - she was fine but called a bit it was so sad xxx

That sounds awful.

We had wind on saturday, but it was sunny (see pics in gallery of carol service). It was worse yesterday, so we squeezed in an hours hack between the downpours in the morning and then left them in their stables with lots of haylage.

The fields, and school are sodden, but they're going out today as it's their last week in the summer fields, so won't matter if they trash them too much.

Well mine stayed in all weekend, then I saw the nice sunshine and decided to go for a hack this morning. Bad move, within 30 minutes we had parted company

It was - we had everything thrown at us - the hail was unbelievable, thought that the roof was going to come in at one stage.

We had branches down on Sunday, and some hideous weather generally.......

Horses have been in since last thursday as ground has been pretty wet.
They managed to be ridden and put on the walker both days tho

yesterday I dont think anything wanted to go out!

We had very similar weather to you and also had a blackout although it came straight back on again thankfully. Horses live out 24/7 regardless so they had to just deal with it. I, however, cowered in the house and wouldn't go out

Sunday was awful in Essex, torrential rain and gale force winds (with the odd random patch of sunshine!), we got the horses in early and were then hit by something resembling a monsoon! Spent some of the a'noon sweeping out flooded stables and the horses got wet standing in their stables!!

We decided to visit you in Wales in Saturday, which wasn't a great move!!
Did 2 classes between the rain storms, then gave up during the hail storm, Sienna didn't even come off the lorry for her class. Drove back to Bristol & back through the hail, then got back home half an hour before the hail again, so went through that storm 3 times in one day....

Definately not!

Although contrary to what you may have heard, it's usually a very pleasant 70 degrees all year round here. We just get this sort of weather once a year - around the beginning of December!

Wasnt aware the uk was being battered again!

I was supposed to be hacking out on Sat but we decided it was far too windy so just checked em all out, then Sunday (sister was doing him) she decided to leave him in coz weather was blooming awful but she did manage to lunge quickly in between showers!

Ours are still all out, but they are very grumpy (me too!)

Was supposed to be going for a saddle check today, but the power steering pump on the Landrover has packed up, had to wait six weeks for that appointment too, horse had pulled front shoe off on the fence too!

Nearly got blown off Eric during my lesson yesterday then while we were hacking back the heavens opened and we got absolutely drenched. Had just about dried off when I went to ride Lou then after about 20mins it started pouring, i carried on and then the hail stones started and they were htting my face with such force I had to stop! Sodding weather! Luckily the other horse I was riding is at a yard with an indoor school, bliss!

We spent a very wet & windy cold Saturday afternoon assisting some "Horse wisperers" training a panicky friend's horse to load on the transport we had lent them....

Sunday, the gods were kind and the sun came out in the morning!!!!! Had a very pleasant 3 hour trek out on James & HS with a picnic in a quiet secluded spot overlooking the hills of the Bugey. James (& HS too) was such a good boy and galloped & walked perfectly & when required

The rain & gales came much later in the evening.

Well all are out 24/7 as we still do not have a muck trailer, or the rubber down in the stables, or any shavings. And i'm getting p!ssed off with it now! Could really have done with bringing the 3 boys in Sat night and Sun but of course we couldn't.

Didn't ride, just brought them in for a bucket of feed and had to put them back out again.

I was competing (dressage) on Saturday!

Needless to say, he was rather tight in the neck and spooky!

Yesterday I felt a bit annoyed at myself for not riding him through it at the competition, so I decided to ride in the wind! OMG - it was so windy! Things were blowing about everywhere! However he was a little gem and did exactly as I asked. I decided not to turnout afterwards, which he seems quite agreeable to!

horses went out, glad to be in at noght tho. managed very short hack yesterday afternoon although it was blowing a gale.
hopefully have time in week to get them out.

piddled down all sat and most of sunday, not great when you live on the side of the mountain!

Went hunting Saturday morning - hail, wind, rain, thunder, lightning - It was brilliant!

Got soaked to the skin, we had to stand for quarter of an hour at the meet as the hailstones hammered down on us and the master couldn't give his speech until it died down as nobody could hear him. After we set off the sun came out for five minutes allowing us to have a bit of a jump (Titan & I led a group for the first time - yey!). We stood as the hounds worked the quarry and it went really dark, with thunder rumbling around the sky and the steam off the horses making it like something out of a dream. We set off again and it tipped it down but luckily we were going over my yard's land so I did a bit more jumping and called it a day when we got near the stables.

We were only out for a couple of hours but it was fab galloping along with the skies thudering around us. I thinnk you just get to a point were you can't get any wetter and you just have to give in and accept it. It made it easier that we had hot chocolate with cream when we got back to the yard, though!

Saturday morning OH hacked Trike out in glorious sunshine if a little windy, then saturday afternoon the gales got worse and the heavens opened......so I just schooled in the indoor
grin.gif

Sunday the weather was appalling.......so went and sat in the pub most of the day and took advantage of the Full Livery
