I clipped my boy on Sat for the first time reason being he has a very fine coat and is only just backed, so just hasn't needed to be clipped before now!
He was a star and behaved really well, and when I did him I didn't notice any patches on his skin at all, but on Sunday I noticed he has some weeping patches just behind his jaw at the top of his neck, I scrubbed with hibiscrub and put some dermisol on them. They were ok but a bit crusty this morning and then I noticed some more on the other side of his neck up by his mane. He is also a bumpy all over his neck where he is clipped.
Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this on a first clip?
I wondered if it was a bit like a teenager shaving for the first time??
He was done with standard blades and I just use a normal cliper oil. His skin isn't usually sensitive and he certainly didn't get clipper lines unlike my other horse does (He looks awful for 24 hours usually as he is very sensitive and marks easily)
