Weepy Eyes

My cob keeps getting really weepy eyes, i keep cleaning them just with water and sponge, but they keep weeping.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this, and suggestions of how to stop it??
 
Ahhhhh actually thats probably right!

He suffers from switch itch, so in summer he wore a facefask, and his fly rug, i've not put these on them yet, but i shall put them on tomorrow.

Hopefully that will make a difference.

The cob I help out with had a weapy eye, vet had a look at it and gave us some cream and steroid drops which cleared it up nicely.
 
My boy had a weepy eye last year and was recommended going to the chemist and getting some eye ointment (but don't mention that its for your horse). The weeping stopped in a couple of days.
