WEG horses. Who were you most impressed with?

Yep agree, for such a comparitively young horse, it had a lovely round. Also a fan of Glencarrick, not bad for 19!!

yer loved he round also oli townends was quite good moved up form 51st to13th!! and spring along looked good too!

Glencarrick is 20, pretty impressive!

I was quite impressed with Kilcluny, going around the cross country with only 1 refusal, and he has only competed up to CCI 3* level!

I liked Karin D's mare too - brave for a green horse. I was quite impressed with the Polish lad (sorry can't remember his name) I thought he rode well. Totally UNIMPRESSED with that french rider (can't remember if he was their 2nd or 3rd) but just did not stop sawing at that horses mouth from beginning to end

I was shouting at the TV!

toytown did well but he wasnt the best round i dont think he had a horrid moment and the hedge to the corner hedge where he banked it and was very good to jump the 2nd element!! also a sticky moment at the water where againg he was an honest horse (with obviously a good rider ) !!

I was very impressed with karin donkers mare, she rode very well and did not hurry the horse, even though she had a v.good dressage. I agree that french rider looked awful, with a decent rider on top the horse would of looked awesome! Clayton good too! Shame about his time penalites!

I wasn't impressed with either of the french riders I saw. Thought Toytown made it look like quite hard work but was very honest - could have had a few refusals/runouts but kept going.

Only saw a handful of rounds but I loved Amy Tyrons horse, very honest and I'd love to ride it xc, would make me smile all the way round!!

Me too! Apart from the problem early on he had a super round, rode the water brilliantly! Not bad looking either

Agreed about the French rider, but the horse looked strong, he had blood in his mouth, though of course it may have bitten its tongue.

I kno Joe quite well, was gutted I missed his round!! What happened? Where did he fall?? As Joe says, (Snip is a very cute pony"!! Lol!!

He WAS quite cute wasn't he?!

I thought he showed great balance for an inexperienced rider (inexperienced at this level of competition I mean - for all I know he is the polish version of WFP).

Agree that french horse was very very strong but would like to see it ridden by someone who would be softer with their hands. You would have to be pretty brave to resist giving it a pull I fully admit that, but I think the horse may just learn to back off his fences a bit when he had nothing to fight. Sadly I think that is a talented horse that is just going to be soured by always coming home with a sore mouth....

If I could take one home it would be the portugeuse horse, Laughton Hills. The rider gave him very little help and flicked his reins at him into every fence, the horse just kept going. OK he didn't look very enthusiasistic but who would with that wally on your back.

haven't watched all of it yet but so far:

Really liked Megan Jones' horse - Kirby House Jester or something like that - the grey. Despite the run out/refusal still really liked him

I love Toytown, I'd hunt him like a shot!! He looks intelligent and honest. I'm not a fan of Tamarillo, although hes a nice colour!

Love Flint Curtis...greys are best .

(As you can tell, am v. prefessional in my assessments!)

I thought Daisy and Spring Along were by far the best in terms of a polished performance. A lot of other people had very honest horses, was not impressed with some of the top 10's showjumping rounds!
Tamarillo's lack of runs this year really showed- OK you dont normally run a top horse all that often to save them for the big ones, but he looks like a horse that desperately needs more runs to keep his brain thinking and to just take a slight edge off his natural exerberance. If he had done a good 3/4 whole events in the last two months I think he would have been able to give a more polished performance this week. Just my opinion anyway as I dont know the horse.

Ringwood Cockatoo is outstanding- but do think he is a bit too big for Bettina hence their lack of consistency with the jumping...not saying its bad but would like to see a big tall man ride him! Frank Ostholt would do well on him...

Totally agree Re. Tamarillo, he needs more to keep him occupied. But Williams sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place, I understand why he keeps him wrapped in cotton wool!
