15.2hh Welsh Cob. Good do-er come summer but luckily my yard's grass is pretty naff. On limited turnout at the moment (approx 3 days out of 7 for 8ish hours) otherwise stabled.

He's been refusing his hay for the last few weeks but munching his straw bed. I've just started him on halyage but only a small amount because I was worried about him not eating so I've been mixing it with his hay (he was literally leaving 8-10kg of hay overnight!). Gets a few handfuls of hi fi lite once a day and occasionaly has spillers high fibre cubes in his treat ball but nothing else. Being exercised up to 5 times a week at the moment, normally 4 times doing a bit of everything. Needs topline but has considerably filled out over his flanks since having his tildren treatment!

And for comparison, March last year after his first tildren treatment and having been out of work for 4 months.

He's really nice. I would contine with the hay, rather than haylage as you dont want any more weight on him.

Looks a good weight to me for this time of year. Have you recently had a new batch of hay? One of mine is fussy about his hay and is quite particular about what he will and won't eat but he is the same with haylage too.

His top line doesn't look bad to me. He is a pretty similar shape to my welsh x. It definitely looks like the Tildren was worth doing.

Thanks for the replies. Amymay, I don't particularly want him on the haylage but in 3 weeks he ate less than two bales of hay. He's just not interested in it. He's eating more hay now it's mixed with his haylage.

Have you tried soaking it? I know some horses are fussy with soaked hay but mine tends to quite like it :)
Also how have you found the Tildren to work with your horse? Mine had it in September and is like a new horse :) complete god send to us!

Hi, have tried soaking it and just wetting it. He seems to eat some from a bale then completely refuse it. I've been leaving him with 8-10kg hay overnight and he's not touched it for days. Typical! He's never been fussy lol

As for the Tildren, he had two doses, one on February an the other in may and he seems like a new horse! It's brilliant imo

Have you tried him on hay from another supplier? Mine went off their hay from my original supplier so swapped to somewhere else and they can't eat it quick enough. As for his weight he's looking good at the moment, but as above wouldn't want to see any more on him coming in to summer :)

We're not allowed to bring in hay from outside suppliers unfortunately. I'm hoping he'll drop a little weight before the grass starts to come through but his muzzle is already on hand! He's having a maximum of 200g combo rug and as soon as the weather decides to stop being winter he'll be in his 180g standard neck

That's great about the Tildren, I really can't rate the stuff enough!
How about mixing his nets with hay and straw if he likes to eat his straw bed?

Funny enough I put straw in a net for him and he completely ignored it! I've still got some though so may do 30/30/30 hay/straw/haylage and see how that works! Ditto abou the tildren
