My new horse was very ill last year he has fully recovered but needs to put on all the muscle he lost. He is being fed a top spec cup on copra twice a day, about a mug of linseed split over 2 feeds and a big stubs scoop of alfa oil in each feed. And pro hoof. Next week he comes in so I can try to get him to eat more, he is gaining muscle slowly it has only been a month is there any thing I can add to help?

You could increase the amount of linseed, doesn't sound like he's having a lot of it? Maybe alpha beet too if he's tolerating alfalfa?

Had to get weight on mine this time last yr (also barefoot), he was put on Alfa oil, linseed, Alfa beet and haylage. He was on pro hoof too but decided not to eat it, so he's now on forage plus performance balancer and looks amazing!!

Don't stress too much though, better to do it slowly, and he didn't look too bad ;)

My poor doing barefoot horse gets speedibeet and oats with linseed and pro-hoof suppliment. She does well on this.

Check the alfabeet as I found that it wasn't as good for weight gain as the adverts implied when compared to speedibeet or copra. Also it is a different texture to speedibeet which mine doesn't like.
