I thought I`d ask on here where you distribute your weight when you ride.
Some say to put your weight into your heel, and to relax your thighs to make your seat lighter but others say to squeeze with the thighs to support your weight to make the seat lighter. Where do you put your weight.

Thanks.

Um. Trying to think... I wrap legs round and use seat and legs to drive forward when needed, but then lighten seat and legs when wanting to change tempo/speed.

Will be interesting to see what other responses you get :D

I'm going to be honest here, and say I think I change, depending on the horse. For example if I know its a bugger, i'll keep the weight in the heels, also if it's a youngster and responsive to the leg. Whereas if it's one of the big unresponsive cobs, I have the weight in my legs and thighs? :)

ETA: But that could be a load of tripe, so will have a look next time I ride! :P

As above - weight in the heel
My cob is spooky, never gives any warning and riding like this gives me such a secure seat I feel safe thus calmer
As i am confident my horse spooks less which is all good - win win :)
