Well nobody's answered this in stable yard but the question isn't going away! Patches can you ask your OH?

Would like to know weight and average price of the big rectangular bales so that I can go on 'managemyhorse.com', be a real saddo, and put it on horse's diet sheets. The sooper dooper computer will then work out how much it costs to feed them. If you haven't been and had a play on this new website it then do, it's really clever.

i pay £14.75 for a big bale (rectangular or round bale of hay) couldnt tell you the weight though, one hell of a hard push from one side of the yard to the other with 3 of us pushing!!

my OH has just informed me that they weigh between 300 and 350kg, dependent on the type of baler and the density!

yes good rates for the hay, worried it wont last, i was paying £25 per large bale before i moved yards, can you imagine saving half per massive bale (10-12 smalls) its awesome, and pays for the straw in itself

As others have said, it totally depends on the size the farmer chooses to make them. For example, over here, most "selling" round bales weigh about 600lbs, however because we make hay for ourselves to use aswell, we make the ones we keep at 1.500lbs bales.

For a regular sized large square, I would say they would bale them at around 600 - 800 lbs.
