weight of saddle/posting to italy - anyone know?

selling a 17.5inch meduim barnsby gp for a friend on ebay and have had someone contact me to post to italy - does anyone know how heavy a saddle is or have posted abroad - need to know the weight in order to get a quote.

With a saddle it would tend to be done by volume as much as by weight (a saddle needs a big box but doesn't weigh as much as the same box full of, say, folded pairs of jeans). So,you need to find out how big the box would be as Royal Mail charge 'volumetrically' when things get big.

I think I got charged about £20 by Equestrian Clearance to send my saddle to Spain but they are a business customer and it was by carrier.

It would be probably very expensive! I would also be very careful sending by Royal Mail as I have had alot of parcels lost in Italy there seems to be quite alot of problems with their postal system. Try UPS they seem quite reasonable to europe...
