I use SSystems feeds which I am very happy with however my new horse has no topline or condition (he has improved and I know it will be a slow process continued schooing etc). However I have been looking at Baileys No 4 or Allen & Page Calm & condition on top of SS (he is presently also having an evening meal of unmolased beet with D & H Build up aswell.Plus usual joint supplements /oil etc . He also has ad lib haylage .
So how many votes for A & Page and how many for Baileys No 4 ??
I suppose I am looking for a miracle worker !! Whilst I am waiting for Dr Green to work its magic
Thanks

Calm and Condition is actually 40% sugar beet hence its low starch level. Has caused colic in a few horses at our yard who have followed instructions by "dampening" it as it advises on the label. Following this we soaked it out of interest and after adding 4 parts water to 1 part C&C the product continued to swell. wouldn't touch it.
Try Conditioning Cubes or Slow Release Cubes. Conditioning cubes from any brand will contain a small amount of cereals, so if your horse is excitable maybe go for slow release / endurance cubes based on fibre and oil for slow releasing calories.

If weight and topline are building up slowly, do you actualy need anything else? I also presume youy are going down the SS route to prevent fizzyness or to ensure your horse can have a naturaly forage based diet. If this is the case cant you perhaps try some of the higher energy grass nuts or lucerne, or perhaps linseed.

Aaaahhh! I have to say it again and risk you all shouting at me!! Have a look at the winergy equilibrium feeds. similar theory to SS, high fibre, low starch but so well made and have transformed all the horses I know fed on them. look at the case studies on the website or call them, they are really helpful.

PS, no, I don't work for them!
