Hi all,

I have never used weighted boots before and to be honest think they are best avoided but I just wanted people's thoughts on them.

I have a 16.2tb who I'm starting to event. Things are going well but he is weaker and unbalanced on the left rein, but only in canter, and this is reflected in our dressage scores.
(Before you all ask I have has back and physio done and saddles checked, and they say all is fine except he is slightly weaker on his left loin/hindquarter)

So with the help and advice oft instructor we've been doing lots of transitions/stetching/pole work.

I would also do hill work but I live I Norfolk so not much chance of that!

So I had a thought.. Would weighted hind boots help to build some muscle? Or would they just put unnecessary strain on his legs?

I just wondered if people had any experiences with them whilst trying to strengthen, not whilst jumping.

Thanks

They are designed to help with jumping technique, not sure I agree with their use but thats another debate, I would think they are unlikely to make a difference to your horse, considering you would probably use them on both legs, plenty of proper work as you are doing should be enough.
One of mine was weaker on his right hind I do loads of transitions, turns on the forehand and leg yielding always making sure he reacts when I ask him to step under with the weaker leg, he is now much more level and the physio was very pleased when she saw him last.
