iv heard its good and slimming world is meant to be good, i wont pay the money just to be weighed though. i was ill on the weekend and have lost my appetite since and have lost 5lbs so having a bug seems a good diet at the moment!
If you look in your local paper there may be a voucher where it is free to join. You take the voucher to your nearest club and as far as I know, you get weighed, the diet is explained and you get all of the books......do this then dont go back. Use the books and weigh yourself.
There isnt anything mentioned on the voucher about any catches so am hoping this is correct.
i'm like miss_buffay in that I won't pay money to stand on some scales... but a few of my colleagues go to slimming world and say its much easier to follow that WW and they've had good results.
Oh really didnt think about Slimming World - looked at meetings for Weight watchers and they are all at 6-7 in evening when i am just getting home from work and going to the stables!!
I go to Weight Watchers and have lost 40 pounds so far. If you buy a monthly pass it works out cheaper than paying weekly. Good luck with your diet. There are day time meetings as well as evenings. You can also do Weight Watchers on line. Have a look at the website. www.weightwatchers.co.uk
I love weightwatchers! I understand what those are saying about paying money to get weighed, but I also think that the fact that you are paying gives you more incentive to make it worthwhile. I lost 21 1/2 pounds earlier this year following the diet and it has stayed off even though I'm not going any more. I am going to start again soon though as still have a way to go.
Good luck!
Weight watchers is great! I joined about 4 years ago when I was training for a charity trek and lost 6 stone!
I put about 2 back on but started back about 4 weeks ago and have lost 10lb!
It is so easy to follow. i am lucky as I have a goup on a saturday morning which makes it so easy to go to.
Most people feel a bit apprehensive the first time. You just turn up and someone will show you what to do. The leader is there to help you and will explain the info she has given you. You will soon make friends. It really works and you will be so pleased that you have joined when you see your weight going down!
I didn't find it scary, however have to admit I went with a friend and when she stopped going, I did too! It also helps if you have a friend to go with as you tend to get competitive with each other, which is no bad thing if you are trying to shift weight.
I work in the City and the one I go to doesn't have a meeting. You literally turn up to get weighed. Although the leader is also very helpful and if you have any questions, she is happy to spend time explaining things to you.
And yes, you can just turn up...
I did it several years ago and yes I did lose weight but I resented paying £5 a week to stand on some scales! I have friends who have done slimming world and both of them have lost 2 stone each. They were not really overweight either, it was just about changing your attitude to food really.
I guess it depends what works for you. There are numerous online weight loss programmes - weight watchers do an online one as do the likes of Tesco and sainsburys - I think sainsburys works you out a daily menu and stuff too. I followed the Closer (magazine) online diet a couple of years back and that also worked and they are not as expensive as WW plus you get additional exercise tips etc.
At the moment I am doing what they did on that CH4 (I think) prog a few months back - sticking to 1200kcals a day to drop some weight. So far i have dropped half a stone in a few weeks so it is working and to be honest I am by no means starving myself! I intend to go for another stone loss maximum but although I do aim for 1200 kcals a day I know i am allowed 1500 as that is the usual amount you should aim for if dieting. It is very easy these days as everything has calorie content and fat etc noted on it so counting is easy and quite precise.
As I say though - each to their own, I am not one for spending my evening sat in some village hall or something waiting to get weighed and then everyone treating it as a litle 'club' and buying the WW treats etc etc etc. That was just not for me but some people I think went as a social think and to compare their loss each week.
I do weightwatchers online as I live in the middle of nowhere and it's just easier. I started 5wks ago and have lost 8lbs and find it really easy. I did it a few years ago after my daughter was born and lost 5 stone in a year! It was easy peasy! Good luck!
