Weimaraners.. whats your experience?

They're not really for me, to be honest, but a chum of mine, one PC Paul Dodd won the Met Police Championships (or possibly The Nationals), two years running with a Weimaraner, so there'll be at least one person who won't agree with me! The HPRs hold appeal for others though.

Alec.

Never liked them until my parents got one. They were all bitches and have had the most wonderful temperaments, would go to the vet and have anything done with tails wagging. However they need loads of exercise and can be clingy and suffer from separation anxiety.

One of our close friends had one , Roddy was as mad as a box of frogs till the day he died, a lovely friendly loyal dog but mad .

Not my breed of choice and I have HPRs! The Weim Association used to do training days about ten years ago in Leics and I went to a few but wasn't impressed with any of the dogs I saw. I think that a couple of longhaired ones have done okay in tests and certainly in working trials and schutzhund...........maybe they have a bit more drive than their short-haired relatives or just coincidence??

Thinking about it now, have never seen many Weims at the spring pointing tests either.

I have an 11yr old. She is the best dog I've had (had 2 cocker spaniels, who were also lovely), she is loyal, charismatic, funny, can be bonkers too. She is so comical and never fails to make me laugh. We have had some issues this year with being attacked by another dog requiring surgery, a fatty lump removed from her shoulder and eye and she has just been diagnosed with pancreatitis but before now she has never had a problem (except when she jumped onto barbed wire a few years ago and needed stitches - the idiot!)
From my experience of my dog and a friends weimy, I really do recommend them!
