Weird puppy habit

My sister's pup is 20 weeks old now and is super cute. He has a weird habit though- if you give him something new to eat, he'll chuck it on the floor and rub his face on it before he eats it.

He got a bit of turkey from me today and did it. He had me in stitches because he's so serious about it.

Anyone else have a dog who does this? I'd love to know why he does it!

Squashing it and killing it? or scenting it I do think it involves hapiness as a puppy whippet I have here does it to other dogs, it's very cute, like he loves them muchly

Mine brought in a worm from the garden, dropped it on the living-room carpet, then stood on his head rubbing his chops on it!
