I showed my riding instructor a new one last night - we were doing a small bit of reinback....and when asking the horse to do it - I kept on looking straight up at the ceiling and tipping my head right back - and leaning back - apparently in the 30 years she's been teaching she's never seen that before :D

Ok that is a new one on me :D

I talk to myself - it's like I'm instructing myself "keep that hand still, why did you just pull on his mouth, what are you doing with your legs, you can't expect him to work properly if you're riding like a pleb" I think normal people say these things internally

i go beautifully on the bit and have a lovely curved spine when circking or bending doesnt help my riding much . I also drop on the bit arch my neck and extend beautifully in trot in inhand classes! Bill trudges along behind in an embarassed manner.

My left hand has a mind of it's own. I tell it to stay within it's 'box' next to the right one, but it likes to wander and fiddle. In my lesson tonight my instructor said "You need to decide where you want your hands want to be, either lift the left one or drop the right one, I don't care which, just sort it out!" :D

I have creepy heels too. They creep up and up and up, even though two seconds ago I was shouted at for the problem.. :o

Hunching is also a bad habit, and collapsing at the core in canter, and not bending elbows enough, and fiddling too much, and having a bobbly left foot...

I should really stop now..... :o

Its hard to explain but I twist both wrists in towards my body, so far round that my thumbs are pointing directly inwards towards my chest,. My riding instructor finds it strange, she says I do it cause my rains are to long and it compensate for the extra length. I don’t realise that I am doing it lol i get reminded ALOT to sort my hands out :D

I am definitely one to hunch and go into foetal position at any given moment as I get nervous!

I was watching some interesting Jane Savoie videos on YouTube last night about programming your position and creating a muscle memory, the girl riding would start to hunch, then she would have to put her inside arm behind in the small of her back and it should sit in comfortably, pushing her body up straight, then kept doing that periodically to check. This also helped to program the shoulders to work more parallel to the horses shoulders on a circle, and she would also have to point back to the horses hip every now and then. It was really interesting as I have not had lessons focusing on my position for aaages so I think I might do that soon now I am feeling more confident and ready to improve! I have to admit that I often feel a bit unnatural when I sit up straight and tall when my body wants to curl up, and I feel like I'm leaning back weirdly!

My worst one by a mile has got to be clicking all the time. Everytime I want Jack to do something it's like *click click* *gives aid*.

Also jumping, my bad habit is looking down at last moment. I literally say to myself "Look up, look up, look up....oh hello jump pole underneath me"

And finally, hand pumping. I am determined to get through a jumping round without pumping my hands furiously like a freaking jockey trying to get a big win. At least I don't bounce on his back to try to get him to go faster. Then I'd have to tell myself to stop watching jockeys ride. :o
