Weird tack colours?

The Albion Revelation range comes in a varity of colours and amounts of bling. I think I read somewhere the colours included pink and baby blue?

There is nothing wrong with London tan! Years ago, all good tack was made in tan and then with oiling and saddle soaping, it became a lovely mahogany color. It's only in modern times that the fashion for boring havana has come about. Tan tack looks lovely on a dark bay. I have a tan side saddle from the 1940's that I'm going to restore and all my astride tack is tan too

Did see a blue bridle which was ok but I wouldnt use it and purple reins today though that I didnt really like. I'm not a fan of the plasticy pink leather bridles that you can get on any thing other than kids ponies.

Yuk I can't stand tan coloured tack, but thats just my opinion sure there are lots of people out there who do.

I saw these 'intensity' boots http://www.dublinclothing.co.uk/dublin-featured-campaign.html in the flesh (so to speak) on Sat when at local feed merchants.
The sales girls in the tack shop were pishing themselves at them, tho they said they had had interest that morning from some of the local ag college girl students!

Please tell me its not April the 1st running on a groundhog day....... yikes!

I actually love havana tack on greys, some dark greys look great in it with a nice havana

In my defence I did get £1K off the list price due to the colour! I managed to sell it 3 years after I bought it for about the same price I paid for it !

Totally agree here, we trained in 1987 to make saddlery using London Tan but it was going out of fashion and dark havanna was coming in. I never have any requests now to make anything in London Tan which is a shame.

I love London tan! I have a beautiful 40 year old saddle at home with two matching bridles... None of which fit my horses. So yes, they are in black and havanna ... Boooooring! Would love the darkbay to have a flash tan set

Only trouble with London is that it's more expensive to buy in as a hide because it has to be free from flaws, blemishes or growth marks due to the colour, where you'd get away with a few blemishes and growth marks on dark havanna or black, you can't on London.
The cattle need to be matured slowly to try to avoid the growth marks which also puts the price of the hide up which then gets passed onto the final saddlery it is being used to make.

I actually quite like that saddle. I had to google "london tan saddle" as I've never heard of London tan before, only Newmarket tan. I have a newmarket tan Wintec close contact jumping saddle and it's gorgeous, it looks really good on my fjords!

The only London that's now readily available is in pet shops, it's the orangey brown colour of the leather dog collars on sale.

I loooove them, but that's because my colours are black and red
I get they're not everyone's cup of tea, but personally, I like my tea a bit snazzy

I would be well happy with 1K off that saddle Charlimouse! I like the tan I agree it would look nice on a dark bay with matching bridle! As for those Katie Price boots... oh my! I should think they might sell better as fetish wear and £499?! MADNESS!!

I quite like a bit of colour on bridles etc, it's fun, not for a saddle though it's just too much!

We make dog collars, leads and belts in Sedgwicks London Tan and it's really popular. I've got a bridle OH made me in Australian Nut which is flattering on my dark bay mare. Thinking about going for a midnight blue one for our black welsh. Totally different leather type to the naff ones you see in Robinsons! My personal fave is the Sedgwicks Hazel, though we do also stock Bakers Harness in Dark Stain which is beautiful.

I love anything with a bit of snazz, those KP boots are rank though, has to be classy, not tacky.

I'm a fan of oxblood leather, only seen one saddle in 'proper' oxblood in the flesh, looked so nice on the dark bay who was modelling.

I'm coming round to the idea of patent, perhaps a bridle, maybe some boots....

From what I can see it looks like a natural russet which they use to tool patterns on the hide then usually stain it down to what ever colour they require and seal it but it could be just a slightly lighter shade of London, it's hard to tell without seeing it in front of me.
There's SO many different colours of hides on the market now, with each tannery having different names for the same sort of colours and each batch can vary slightly as leather is a natural product. When we make saddlery we have to cut our pieces for construction out of one piece and the next hide might not match, nothing worse than making a Australian Nut bridle and you start a new hide halfway through only to find it is lighter/darker than what you have already been using!!

There was a black watch tartan saddle at a sale yesterday, it could have been worse I suppose. There was also a red, white and blue miniature cowboy saddle that was shockingly poor quality and hurt my eyes!

Thats the Barnsby Xtreeme - About £2.5k's worth of saddle - I'd have one in a heartbeat, green or no green.
