Ellie has a sweet tooth - she likes chocolate digestives and pear drops, and tonight we discovered she loves bananas!

My old NF pony, Shandy, loved Mars bars and cheeseburgers - but she wouldnt touch the burger if it had ketchup on it!

And our little show pony Sophie used to drink coke from the can!

Re bananas - there has been a study done (i forget by who and where and can't be arsed to look it up) that says of all the flavours (apple/cherry etc) banana is the most preferred!

My old lad used to suck sweets.. wierd I know and his faves were sherbert lemons, and refreshers, and he adored orangeade and satsumas!!

izzy likes coke and basically anything she can get her teeth on including chips

my mates pony is an omnivore as it loves kabab (sp) meat (shocked)

the coloured cob in my sig used to be fed tabacco(sp) by his owner

Why on earth would you give a horse cheese-burgers and mars bars? Some fruit and veg yes but surely their stomachs aren't designed to eat meat or chocolate so why not offer them more appropriate treats.

I didnt 'offer' the burger first of all - the damn pony stole it from me at a show! head over my shoulder and whipped it straight away!

cheeky devil! So then it just became a standing joke that if I had a burger, Shandy had to have some too! She's 30 now, and still going strong, so the 'innappropriacy' cant have done her much harm!!!!

My daughter accidentally dropped hot (actually warm) chocolate over her pony as it spooked and she was holding it. it was a HOOT because he spooked, then spooked at the funny warm shoulder feeling, then spooked again as the white foam beaker hit the grass.

We did laugh.

I do miss that fab pony.

Chex likes anything - burgers, chips, sausage rolls, pot noodles, mashed potatoes, chocolate...the list goes on and on. The only thing he will not touch is oranges.

My Section B, Bug, likes tea and coffee and bacon rolls. None of these were offered to him, he helped himself when the fence was being put up and the fencing guys were most put out when they realised he'd snarfed their bacon rolls but thought it was a hoot to see him with a china mug in his teeth, tipping it up carefully.

I bought him a plastic mug and as he was the only one outside 24/7 one winter I used to make him a cup of tea or coffee in the mornings which he greatly appreciated.

My horse once stole a strawberry ice cream off some kids that were standing too close-he spat it out when he realised how cold it was! He did pull a funny face though! Apart from that he only ever gets fruit and veg, Im paranoid about about feeding anything else because of the risk of choke or colic, especially bread but I know a lot of people do feed it.

can you tell me the secret of getting so many responses Mizel or does any one else have an idea as I must be doing something wrong. Only i looked up some posts and some are pages and pages long on subjects like bran mash (whatever that is in fact i think my mum gives my chickens something like that) I'm new and I must be asking the wrong things. sorry to change the subject.

Well, no-one has said 'i gave my horse coke and it keeled over and died' so, as far as I can see, it hasnt done any of them any harm! And if this is to be considered another act of 'cruelty', then I am glad that there are others already incriminated along with myself! LOL!

I watched a programme once about people that fed their dogs chocolates, sweets etc, treating them as if they're human and the vet on the programme was horrified and basically telling the owners they were doing the animal no favours. Horses and dogs should be fed as animals, whether they seem to like junk food or not. Waiting to see if there is an adverse reaction is not very responsible IMO.
