Weird wee (I think it was a wee)

Come down this morning to do the dogs and as I opened the door to the room where they sleep as usual Spud got out of his bed. Bert was already up and revved to go out. Cecil and Basil (crated) were in their beds.
There was a big wet patch in spuds bed.
I find it really weird. All are house trained. Basil is a bit hit and Miss but was crated. The others cock legs over something (outdoors, surely they would If they happened to be desperate indoors🤷‍♀️) so wouldn’t just be a circle in the middle of the bed
I’m the past if something has been on spuds bed, eg basil was sick on it and has cocked his leg on the corner on the past spud refuses to get in it but he apparently was.
Bit concerned he wee’d in his sleep or without realising.
He is currently on steroids which the vet said may make him drink and wee more. I am filling waters up a few times a day but it’s suddenly a lot warmer so difficult to say if he’s drinking a lot or if they are all drinking more due to the weather.
Could steroids have made him wee in his own bed unaware?

My little hound leaks at the moment when she's deep asleep. She's drinking a lot due to kidney disease - recent diagnosis and we're working to manage it - and the vet thinks she just overflows basically so it's possible

Steroids can make them do that. I had this with my old whippet lady. Vet said it was a possible side effect. Cost me a leather sofa. That said I was more concerned about my dog than the sofa.

It smelt kind of fusty, not definite wee smell. I guess I maybe assumed.
It was also wet on the floor underneath so if it was sick it was a lot. I’m not sure I’ve ever known him be sick in 10 years, of course that’s not to say he wasn’t but I’m pretty sure he’d not have still been in it.

He is the one that I mentioned was on Gabapentin a few weeks ago for some weird issues he’d been having.
The steroids were the next trial before having to decide on major investigations or what.

Meredith, I wonder if it’s a condensation type thing? His bed does sometimes feel slightly damp on the floor this was a definite wet circle though so I think more than that.

Esmae, that’s interesting, no I’m not bothered about the bed at all, more him. The beds washed and dried (thank goodness for a sunny day and to have been doing some extra work on a yard with a massive washing machine today!!) so it doesn’t matter it’s just him I worried a bit about.

As Lola is drinking a lot her fresh wees don't smell much at all, unfortunately if I miss one it still reeks of ammonia after a day though

My old girl was so upset that she'd done it. She was always so clean. If it's a temporary course of steroid then when they come off it it does seem to go away again. At least it did with my girl.

Just a thought - we use a bed with a waterproof inner over the foam base, and then a top cover over the waterproof one.

The bed sits directly on laminate flooring, which isn’t insulated from the concrete underneath (previous owner laid said flooring), and the heat from my lad’s body would cause quite considerable moisture under the bed - to the point where I thought the cat kept peeing on it!

Perhaps if your bed doesn’t have the waterproofing layer, then moisture could be showing on top of the bed?

I’ve raised the bed slightly on plastic deck tiles, so there is a bit of air flow, and hoping that helps the problem.

I am wondering if it was something like this.
It is suposed to be waterproof but I don’t think it is really.
Maybe with it having got suddenly so warm. It’s on cold floor tiles there’s a rug at the front bug doesn’t reach to the wall so possibly.

I’ve been watching him and checking where he lies and there’s no wet patches anywhere else so 🤞 it’s that

Steroids are being reviewed next week, it was a 2 week trial so hopefully not permanent but I suppose it depends a lot on what happens when he comes off them.
