I have a Welsh sectionD mare four weeks ago I had her back shoes taken off abs since then hasn’t been right had her teeth done and her back done and I am not sure wether she is foot sore so I am now waiting for farrier to come out abs put shoes back on this happend last time abs she was foot sore I think I will have to keep the backs on now anyone help me

I think you have answered your own question but farrier will be able to confirm.

Lots of us can help you but, and I'm not being sarcastic here, it's too difficult to hold a written "conversation" with you if you can't put some grammar into your posts.

How fat is your mare, be brutally honest with yourself? Overweight is a very big cause of natives struggling to go without shoes.

How old is she?

If she is older has she been tested for Cushings?

What is she fed?

Did you get 497kg from weigh taping, actually weighing, heart girth measurement....?

Almost 500kg for a 14.1 is huge. She must be hugely overweight and that will be why she is uncomfortable without shoes. Sort her weight and get her comfortable and there's no reason at all she can't be barefoot.

Our first pony was unshod when we got her but soon became footsore as we had gravel track on yard and did a fair bit of roadwork. She was fine once shoes were put on. Hoof boots might be an option too?
