My Blankney PC ODE report at Danethorpe Hill.
Well, as you probably know due to my recent sad circumstances, I've sub'd Arnie into 2 PC ODE's over the last couple of weeks. It obviously wasn't planned but it has proved useful for trying some new bitting arrangements. My clever chap won the South Notts PC ODE last week. Today was the Blankney (Non-PC Open).
Dressage was nice, a little tense in places (we've also been trying some new feed and Propell Plus arrangements
) but other than trying to rein back in his first halt, I thought it was more than acceptable. The judge didn't quite agree and gave us 31.7 (not quite as good as our 17.9 last week!), this put us in 2nd place.
The SJ was a reasonably meaty course in a very slippery arena thanks to some heavy rain showers through the afternoon
. Arnie slipped several times despite good studding, so I was pleased to walk away with 4 faults.
The XC was a bit mixed. Very twisty with varying heights of fences, from a meaty table and a skinny but wide corner, through to Intro type fences
. Anyway, Arnie went clear but was EXTREMELY strong (Baydale - we may need to rethink the pelham??) and tried to take charge at several points throughout the round. Finished with 3.6 time - mainly due to arguments about the tight turns
.
When the results came through we'd won! So all in all, very pleased with the boy but still have work to do in all 3 phases.
Baydale says I'm not allowed to do unaffiliated on this horse anymore - so next stop Milton Keynes BE
Thanks for reading, please join me in a class of wine and some lasagne and garlic bread if you go this far.
(Sorry no pics - OH spent the afternoon shivering because it was so cold - so they would have been all blurred anyway!)
