Got the biopsy results today. It's a tumour, sarcoma which as far as i can see is basically malignant cancer. It's poorly defined, not sure what that means, I think something about it being more likely to have secondarys. It's also quick growing and there is a risk that if we remove it it could begin regrowing before the stitches are even out from the surgery. The vet has given him a year if the surgery is successful. I'm devestated, he's been through so much and is such a character, and I can't be there because I'm at uni and he's at home. Going home to see him this weekend.
We're going for the surgery, he's so well in himself otherwise that we have to give him the chance, I just can't quite believe he has cancer. It's scary knowing e may or may not be making the right choice for him.
I assume since it hasn't been suggested radiotherapy is not an option? I would welcome anyone who has gone through similar experiences.
Presumeably the problem is going to be when the lump gets bigger it will cause him pain? It's currently painless. This gives you an idea of where it is:

poor cat I am so sorry to hear your news. Can offer no advice but wanted to send LOTS of positive vibes. I hope that the op goes well keep us updated!

Thanks. He is well in himself so can only hope he stays resilient, this is the first time I've had to make a decision like this, albeit with mums help/guidance, and its horrible

will tell you it is meglinant just to inform you as you said onm ther thread vet was to technical for you ie laymens terms
i know about cancer is horses and dogs and this is the same type justa different animal not a vet just ahorsey onwer cat and dog owner like you but have lost dogs and horses to cancer
the one your cats got my dog had..
anyways growths in general
as they all cancerous think a tree- with branches
so if its benign - it has only one branch and one root
which can be removed and often thats does the trick and it dont come back or it can be treated with meds etc
and it stays the same-- not going but not getting anyworse type thing

maglinant - is like a big oak tree- with many branches and buds
and grows and grows so these bracnhes branch out in diffrent areas

in a body its not one root but many-- and acts fast and rapid attacking vital organs and can occur again and again
as new buds appear-
whatthe vets cant say is how long an animal has
when it has it-- as he cant commit to that fact becuase its i dont how long they have vould be 6weeks could be two years
when its a maglinant tumor - time is all you have
and time cant be measured into you difinately have

i say that him as you see him now and do what you can
and live for the time hes here- if it comes back or another one in another place- then you have to ask your self where esle is it
for whatever on the outside is on the inside to-
and animals have a higher pain hathio than we do-

best wishes and be strong and brave xx

i am being honest as i lost 2 of mmy horses with in 6weeks
and a dog within a day and another with a year-

just be aware and love him for his now time as as much of the time hes here for- might be long time might not be --
