Well I'm just back from the tack shop and got myself a skull cap.
Its a kids charles owen one but actually looks alright.
The woman fitted it, but after getting it home i think it is a bit big. Or will get big, very soon.

I might go back within the next few weeks and just ask for some tape because she obviously fitted it and thought it was okay, and it wasnt an expensive hat either, and i'm not going back soon so it will probably be too late to return it, and i would have ridden in it.

It's fine for the moment, but if it does stretch; Will some tape on the inside fix it?
 
My instructor always gives me the very unsexy tip to line the inside of the brim with kitchen roll... If you want something a bit fancier, you can get foam tape from western or linedancing shops, they sell this to make your stetson sit more snugly.
 
Yeah they give you foam tape at the shop, but she obviously didnt think it was needed at the time so didnt give me any but I think i'll need it soon though x
 
I don't understand how it fits now but will get bigger?

My hat fitted snugly when I bought it five months ago, I ride every day and its still snug?

When I went to buy my hat the lady in the shop made me lean over and touch my toes without the strap done up. The hat didn't move at all. Is yours looser than this?
 
One thing they always do when we get hats fitted is, put it on, then gently lift the front - if you eyebrows go up and down, it's probably a good fit (so long as head doesn't feel like it's in a vice and doesn't wobble side to side :D).
 
Take it back.

I bought one (exactly the same hat, I believe!) having been fitted up in the saddlery. I got home and thought it didnt feel great, then rode out and got a blinder of a headache. Like you, I thought it was far too late to do anything, but rang the saddlery just in case. They were fabulous - they said to take the hat back straight away, and they fit me up with another and exchanged with no hassle :)
