I have been exercising the dogs in the paddocks after work this week - they have had a great time hurtling around and Amy has been excellent - but today we went to the woods. That is, the 'nature reserve please keep your dogs under control' woods....

So St Amy was let off the lead and promptly took off into the 'private no entry' area of the woods without a backward glance

Flick and Islay went after her and THEY came back when they were called....

2 or 3 minutes later Amy re-appeared and knew I was cross as I couldnt catch her

She spent the rest of the walk on the lead

No negative feedback here. Just a word of caution though about letting greyhounds off lead in wooded areas. My dad has greyhounds and made the mistake of letting them off in a wooded area and one of them took off after something. Unfortunately she ran into a tree, broke her neck and died instantly. Greyhounds aren't very good at dodging obstacles.

OMG

Thanks for that, I had seriously never considered that at all

Eeeeek we might be sticking to open fields for free running from now on

I do agree about greyhounds being bad at dodging things, mine usually manage to run into me when they have the whole field to run around

It's not specific to Greyhounds, the sire of one of our dogs ran into a tree and killed itself. They're are cockers and are supposed to be able to work through heavy cover without killing themselves!!

I love how Flick and Islay were obviously being little suck-ups too, 'Look Mummy, we came back, but the new girl didn't!'

LOL at Flick and Islay being creeps.

St Amy has obviously decided she has put the act on long enough, now the fun is going to start!
A GSD bitch I bred ran into a childs climbing frame, knocked herself spark out but luckily came round a short while later and hadn't done any other harm.

Lol, I told you.........you would make a post like this.....u spiv

QR - dogs are like men aren't they? Once they get comfortable, all the bad habits start coming out.
