Vet came today to block the suspensory to rule it out. Well it has been ruled out so relieved there :)
We scanned the stifle and he found inflamation around the joint capsule (synovitis) but vet still not convinced as this was very fresh and mare has had her issues for a long time. So coincidently she went very lame between the Friday that the physio came (1/10th on lunge same leg with the suspicions) to 4/10th lame on the Thursday when the vet visited, i even said she looked alot worse than normal! (thats probably why she reacted so well to the blocking of the stifle) so vet is putting this down to some sort of field injury between the physio visit and him seeing her  horses eh?!
Anyway, she has narrowing of the hock joint and vet is certain that this is where the problem is coming from (she's def 1/10th lame on this) as confirmed by the physio so very slight. So he has injected her stifle anyway today (the plan was to treat them together) and now has 3 weeks box rest then he will inject the hock and bring her slowly back into work and take her off box rest. The vet is very optimistic and says there is no reason why she cannot be brought back into full work again :) granted the hock will need watching and probably more treatment in the future but fingers crossed she won't be a write off :D
So she's on a beautiful local yard being pampered, off to make a hanging swede for her stable and looking at boredom breakers!
Has anyone else got experience in any of the things i mentioned above?
My last mare had bone spavins so am thinking this could develop into them??
Not really done my research yet as been hectic all day since vet left this afternoon (also had saddler and dentist to my welsh D!!)

That's good news that she can come back into work :) The only experience I have is bone spavin which we're currently getting treatment for. I hope everything continues to go well xx

I think this is what she has according to my research, beginnings of bone spavins although there are no bony growths at present just the narrowing of the joint. She is only rising 6! but my last mare had that and KS at 6 too.

Dex had 2 steroid injections in stifle and it helped hugely, vet is not convinced even though xray showed bone cyst that this was the issue. He has also been put on synequin (joint supplement) and had course of 4 cartrophen (sp) injections ( 1 per week). Very similar to yours in that went from not v lame to 4 tenths on flexion to barely one tenth a few weeks later on follow up vet visit. He has still got some swelling on stifle but it is going down. May be worth asking about the cartrophen as meant to be very good, I will ask for another course or two before insurance year is out just to make sure I have done everything I can.

I can fully endorse Synequin. My mare is on it, shes been so much more free in her movement since she went on it last October. She is 19 in April so it has really made a difference. Started her on it when she started tripping up going downhill and her back leg giving way, my Vet thought it was to do with her stifle. Seems to have done the trick..

That's great news- been watching for an update. Your vet sounds v positive for a good outcome. Really pleased for you and her.
