We're getting somewhere with catching connie and it only took twenty minutes, half an hour, before i won!

Anyway, took her down to the jumps and she obviously hasn't jumped before. i led her over the lowest and she just stepped over them

lol, and she stepped over the medium height too. Got on and rode her for a bit round the paddock where she got a little excited and proceeded to buck. Quite a lot

Made this video if anyone wants to look.

anyway, my post does have a point lol, what would your next step be? If she's just stepping over them and bucking, would you just let her be and not try jumping her (she's about 20/22 so getting on a bit) or would you keep trying her. If you would try again, what approach would you use?

Good lord - she looks very excited. She looks to me that she wants to jump but due to her antics before and after, she's being held back so much (no critism intended) that she can't.

Either you going to have to trust her enough to give with the hands before the jump with a 'go on then' and hope she doesn't jump you out of the saddle or you're going to have to take it really slowly and introduce a pole on the ground and get her calmly going over that without pulling so much before asking her to jump - ie take her back to basics as you would a youngster. Can you build a tiny cross which would fall down more easily than the cavaletti if she knocks it?

She doesn't look remotely 22!

lol she was fine at first but then got a bit excited!

yeah i was holding her back a bit. I will try giving a bit and see. if i end up on the floor, then oh well

lol.

Yeah i know the jumps are a problem. At the minute it's the only things we've got. I'm gonna see if i can get a hold of any poles but they're so expensive!

Well we aren't sure exactly how old she is. She was rescued from being abandoned in a field for two years. She's really livened up since coming here, and sort of "got her life back" lol. We got told she was 18 so she's a least that but vet thinks a good few years older.

thanks

Might be wrong but looks to me like she's a bit keen to get back to the other horse, try again without the other horse there!
