been down the yard this eve and grace was following me around like a lamb and very very quite, she has been out on the field for the last couple of days and has been stuffing her face, they were meant to come in for a few hours in the day but they wouldnt be caught so they stayed out, she has been fine up untill tonight. I watched her for a while and then she started showing some colic signs and got down on the floor but i couldnt get her up. rang the vet and he was 45 mins away so he came on down and by this time she was back up again. He examined her and heart rate and temp are good but he couldnt get his hand in to examine her as she was packed with gas! He said they stuff their face and with this hot weather they are like a furmenting bin which builds up alot of gas! so shes on the gravel paddock nill by mouth and im to go up every hour and check her, shes aloud some soaked hay when she has had a pooh. She had this colic last august aswell. We discussed that you can buy human buscopan over the counter and i think i am going to keep a supply at the yard so i can give her some if she shows early signs as that call out has prob cost me in excess of £200. not that money matters but i would like to go atleast a week without a bill ;-) especially an out of hours bill! Dont you just love horses. I think my love of horses will make me bankrupt ;-)
