Eldest staffie got a full scale shock from the electric fencing tonight. I should not be mean and laugh but she spotted a rabbit. Tail went bolt upright and she took off. Unfortunately
said upright tail gave her a few extra inchs which caught the fence.

Little boy staffie also took off as his older sister gave him quite a fright with her yelping. She then went to her crate in my jeep giving me dirty looks and only came out when my friend came upto the yard. Also and first time ever, attempted a voluntary rehoming by jumping in to my friends car and refusing to get out.

Wonder how long before I am forgiven (OK maybe I shouldn't have laughed!). For an older lady (she's 10) she can really shift!

My JRT went to pee up the sheep/cattle electric fencing (very strong current) and as I saw him about to do it I shouted a warning,too late!
I have never seen a JRT terrier do vertical take off before, then a full backward somersault and finally land on the inside with all the sheep who were just standing there looking at him!
He yelped his head off and then had to come back out through the fence getting another belt on his backside from the fnece on the way!
He wouldn't come near me as he associated the belt in the nether regions (MUST have been VERY painful to get a belt RIGHT there!) with me shouting, so he thought it was something to do with me!
It took ages for me to get near him after that, mind you I couldn't help laugh!

Aah bless poor girl. It reminds me a few years ago we used to have a yellow Lab come down from the village and run through In Laws garden. Well this time this dog decided to go up in the orchard where the cows were being stripped grazed and cocked his leg on the fencer. They said they could hear his yelps up in the village and he ran straight home never to appear again.

Yellow Dog got caught by it as a puppy on his nose - he came legging it back to me and buried his head between my ankles then spent the rest of the walk glued to my side

When Betsy was about 16 weeks I took her to work to meet the horses etc. We were stood near one of the electric paddocks and it must have caught B on the tail, she spun round and growled and launched herself onto the fence.

Needless to say Betsy now stays well away from the electric fencing.

The funniest part of the whole thing was OH didnt believe it hurt as much as dog made out so he grabbed it

I take murphy to do the horses and the fence works intermittently so I don't bother turning it off...! Murphy walked under it last week and got a massive shock on his backside yelped massively and legged it. Two minutes later he ran back under it and did it again...! I have to turn it off now everytime as he keeps doing it! Fool!

My older terrier, think he was about 14 at the time decided to have a drink from a cattle trough, he was hysterical yelping across the field and thought a crocodile or something had bitten him, on closer inspection the electric fence had fallen into the water trough!!!!!!

Poor doggie imagine having a shock through your wet tongue!!!!!

Staffie lady would go one way round the fields, but obviiously did not trust mum when it came to going back down near the fencing, prudence overcame her desire for a run and she headed back to the car. Might take a while to coax her down that way again!
