We definatley have strangles on the yard. Which means I will have to wait god knows how long till my horsey can come, I was so looking forward to tomorrow. All the horses on the yard are getting swabbed on monday to see who the carrier is.
Does anyone know roughly how long it will be until horses are allowed in or out of yard?? I know infected horses have to have 3 negative swabs to be given the all clear but dont know how long you have to wait in beween each swab!

The virus can live for up to 6 months in wood. Speak to your vet or their Strep agent for advice.

So very sorry. An awful time for you & your yard.

We have been given some disinfectant stuff that we have to spray everything in at least once a day until we are given the all clear, infected horses muck is burnt after being mucked out each day, got walk through foot trays as you go in and out of yard etc. Everyone is really paranoid now when a horse coughs or have been laying down for a bit longer then usual they get their temp taken one poor pony had it done about 4 times today bless him lol.
