Well, I've brought her and I can't believe it.

Her 'old' owner has spent all morning with us, looking at our field, stable and the set up we have. I wrote out an agreement, got it signed by both parties and handed over a small deposit. If anything should happen to the filly between now and the pick up date (2 and half weeks til pick up at weaning) then she remains responsible for costs.
I truely can't believe what I have done, for one thing its an ambition to get a 'baby' and bring it on, and ambition in process now? On the other hand its all happened a bit quick! It really is a good time as both children are now at school and I do have time on my hands, I also have a finacial bail out available if things go wrong - which is great, but is there ever the perfect time? Its going to change my lifestyle somewhat!!! Fear of the unknown perhaps.

So, my new additon to the clan is Penny, born on 1st April 2010. She will have a 'Fools' prefix, like Meg!! I've got ideas about that, but yet to confirm anything!!
I've done it, brought my first ''horse''. (Meg was a present). I hope I haven't paid too much for her, what price would you put her at? (she is NF btw) She will have a passport as of tomorrow and be micro chipped too.

Jam donut anyone??

yay :)

well i got a welsh sec a yearling for £40 sold a couple of months later for £150, just got a lightly backed 5 yr old nf for £250, so I would hope not too much :) :) but she looks like a real sweetie, good luck with her!

Congratualtions! She looks a sweetie, I hope you have many happy years together :)

Not sure on price, how's she bred? No expert in buying youngsters, a few hundred perhaps? Could be well off the mark though!

Ah pretty.

Price wise, could be anything!! Depends very much on who you bought from, breeding etc. You can pick NF youngsters up very cheaply but they would often not be good show quality.

What matters is that you are happy with her!

what a lovely little girl ! I am doing the youngster/breaking thing and it's such a great sense of achievement. I always wanted to do it too. sm x

YAY. I was just wondering how you got on. She looks lovely, a real sweet heart.
Another who is intrested in her breeding. NF make lovely ponies (just ignore any post I have made about Herbs :p) I hope you have lots of fun with her and keep us updated on how you are both getting on. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

under £300 is ok then?? - someone say yes... I don't want to feel like I've been ripped off!!

....anything is worth the price you are prepared to pay, so if you are happy with what you have paid, why worry!?

Congratulations! I'm sure you will have loads of fun with her!

Ditto this. I'm about to buy my first horse, and after stressing about whether he was under/over priced compared to the market, I've realised it doesn't matter, as I'm not planning on selling him on so resale/profit doesn't matter.

If yourself and the vendor are happy with the price, it's the right price.

She's lovely, well done.

Awwww shes lovely. How big will she make?

thankyou. She should make 13.2hh, dam is 12.2hh, dad was 14.1 and half hh at 3 when he covered her!

Can someone please remind me of 'the way to tell how big they will grow' - was is measuring point of elbow to something - confused?!? How old are they when you do that?
I don't think Iam making any sense!!

Ah shes sweet! good luck with her :)
I bought a yearling almost 2 years ago now, feels like i have been waiting ages to start anything with her, hoping next year! :D

Very sweet :D. As others have said, if you are happy with her then she is worth what you paid :D

I bought Dizz at the height of the market. Paid a lot for an unproven, just backed four year old, but I love her and I'd have paid more :D (just don't tell D I said that lol).

Look forward to the updates :D

she's beautiful :D
Look forward to hearing about your journey together, once you've got her home, the worrying will stop, you'll soon adapt to having a youngster to work on :D
she looks fab!

You can pick up something like her halter broken for £100- £150. NF are only worth more if outstanding and with sort after lines. I paid £100 for a very smart NF colt a couple of years ago at weanling to make 14.2hh (he was a big foal) but sadly he died at 2yrs. You measure from point of elbow to mid fetlock in front and then flip it to see how big they get, but only really works from yearlings plus.

Awwwwww she's lovely, can't believe you got her :D £300 a great price. Hope you have great fun with her x

lol - just to correct you, but not being mean, I got her for just UNDER £300, as my mum has paid the deposit for me as a pressie. Don't deserve a pressie really, but mum says I've ridden Meg well this year and Iam a very good mummy to the children! I feel very proud and honoured!!
