Went all the way down to Barbury Castle near Marlborough from Cheshire today with 2 horses for our first point-to-point runners of the season and it feels like it was an awfully long trip for a pulled up and an unseated. The pulled up was my bosses horse, he needed the run, plus the race was not run to his liking, so not a major disappointment. My horse on the other hand I'm gutted about. We jumped off near the back, but he was feeling so well and up for it that by the time we jumped the second fence he had moved up to fifth. My joy at this was short lived however, as when we reached the third neither of us saw a good stride, he clouted the fence, pecked on landing, and i fell off:-( Only my 3rd ride, stupid useless novice riders, eh? He then merrily carried on galloping and jumping for another lap with his leg through the reins:-o I wanted to cry standing there with the medics watching him, but at least he did come over to me and stop (bless him) when he realized that I was still standing more or less where he lost me. Luckily both me and him are in one piece, apart from he has a slightly sore mouth from where the rein kept jabbing him as he was galloping, but I'm absolutely gutted, because he felt much better than he has for a long time and it was over too quickly. Never mind, we'll do better next time, just annoying to have a nearly 8 hour round trip for that.
Well done and thank you for reading my ramblings, sorry I went on a bit, I know I don't post much, but I'm home alone tonight and felt like i needed to get my frustration out.
