started off with fox having a little freakout (fair play to him, he probably knew i didnt have a scooby what i was doing :o) but after i let him get a sniff and feel of the clippers he was fine and stood perfectly.. for a while.

so these are the befores..

when i was almost finished the first side.. i was so happy with him here!

ps please ignore him licking the gate like a diddy

then of course, when i was halfway through the other side, someone walked by with a wheelbarrow (omg i know terrifying) and fox jumped about 6 foot in the air, resulting in my shaving a line right up his shoulder

so he ended up like this

then i neatened him up best i could, trimmed his tail and pulled his mane

I didn't take the risk this year and got someone in to do it

Maybe we can start a "we can't clip" HHO club haha

You did loads better than me :). Billy completely freaked out halfway through clipping so his neck is done and just a few strokes of his side :o!! Thankfully Mr Vet dropped off some Sedalin so I am hoping we can finish off tomorrow :p

Oh bless. My first clip went from blanket to full as my boy had to be sedated he was going well until he twitched as i did the arch over stifle- it went straight up! It does get easier. Honest.

nope I disagree - I think he looks much better clipped. Ditto for the skewbie above too.

Shy has his balaclava on tonight as he's been shawn - another livery told me she saw him in it the other night and asked the YO where Shy had gone to..worth getting one !

All it takes is a little practice, and we do have to start somewhere.

I have been clipping my own horses for years now, but my first attempt at clipping was when I was 14 and I was supposed to be doing a blanket clip. Yes, it ended up being a hunter clip. Now, I just get on with it and just eye it in for level as I go.

Also, depending on where up the shoulder your stray line went you may have been able to just take the whole neck off and leave it as a chaser from the girth line back. I use this type of clip all the time on my youngster as she gets quite sweaty on the neck/girth, but not really around the stifle/quarters area with the work she does at the mo.

Well done, and don't worry I have seen far worse!

unfortunately it was a big wonky line that went back the way, there was no way to save it haha :( thats the type of clip he has last year aswell..

glad its not the worst job though!

I did a blanket ćlip today for the first time in years, and realised why I always used to do full clips

In my defence, I think if my horse had a smaller belly it would have been easier!

Uh oh - I'm attempting my first clip tomorrow. I'm thinking a bib and belly or a low trace, but I suspect I may have problems evening it all up and end up with a naked pony!

haha! its not any easier with a skinnier horse, too many knobbly bits!

haha, wish you luck! you can see what happened to me, and i was just wanting a chaser..

Haha well done he turned out well in the end! I have never clipped, I feel I want to try one day and no doubt it will be a full clip and hog with no tail or ears left ;-)
