put a post up yesterday about a young loan horse acting up and what to do. Well, today she went a step further in her antics, up on legs, straight down into a bronc style dive. I was glad I managed to stay on, but decided to call it a day soon after. Have just rung her owner who is a friend of mine and explained, and all is well and good. Horse lined up to go to some hefty lads who were practically born half thouroughbred! she probably won't even begin to act up, these lads just look at a horse and it behaves! anyone else ever baled out like this?, just wondering?..

i'd be sending it back to its owner and getting one i could safely ride, TBH..
they cost the same to keep!

I am right in the middle of baling out - shame mine was bought and not on loan!
Trying to persuade the dealer to take back a happy hacker who likes to go vertical when he doesnt want to go the way I want!

Absolutely no shame what so ever! Hats off for recognising early on that you weren't a good combination. She can go on to a more suitable home and you can find yourself something to have fun on. You can spend an age and a load of money sorting out problems, getting your confidence (and backside) dented in the process but if it isn't your horse and you just want to ride and enjoy a horse there probably isn't a lot of point.

My friend brought a pony like this for their daughter, take it out the yard it goes up vertically, unfortunatly it was given into the first time so repeats as feels the need. Guess which idiot had to get on and sort it out! Not pretty but enough to say it did it with me once and then thought about it a couple of time and didn't do it again. A year down the road its started again, child is not of gifted abilty (I don't mean to be harsh) she doesn't even try to do anything until well after the event and will smack it once its stopped and walking forward - so not productive. Muggins here will be getting on it again in the not to distant future.

I won't even start on the fact the mother had it hacking out in a Market Harbrough

I was livid at the dangers.

But i'd bale out of my own in the areana if I didn't have such a strict YO! No shame in that what so ever!

must admit I'm a sucker for an easy life, think the horse was just needing more than i could give her, she'll make an excellent eventer in the right hands, and her manners on the ground and in the field are impeccable. just not wanting a quiet life, but then duh!...does any thouroughbred!..lol

no shame at all, you are donig whats right for all of you, you don't want to be putting yourself in danger every ride out, she needs to be taught that stropping is not an option and the owner will end up with a nice horse one day, works for everyone i'd say.
