I thought I’d give you all a Sidney update.

Well……….Sidney got the all clear on Wednesday to go out into the round pen at the weekend. The vet was very pleased with him and he trotted up visually sound.

So on Saturday Hubby put on Sids new Chiffney, lunge line, hat, gloves and braced himself. Then spent 5 minutes from hell trying to hang onto Tigger on speed. Except this tigger is 17.2HH, dangerous at both ends and spent the entire time air born. I have never seen anything like it. He just launched into the air as he came out of the barn and never really came down. Even our YM commented afterwards she’d never seen anything like it either and she didn’t know how Hubby held on. It was terrifying.

Anyway finally Hubby got him into the round pen where he went berserk. We thought he was coming over the top of the pen at one point. All this with a shed load of ACP in him.

After about 20 minutes he finally calmed down and just rolled and rolled and rolled! Bless him! He was quiet all day and came in like a lamb. His leg was fine, no heat, no swelling, no limping. Thank god. Yesterday he was tense but walked out nicely and came in calmly as well. The horses we put on the outside of the pen shared a haynet with him and all was peaceful. Ditto this morning.

If he behaves he has to do a week in the round pen, a week in the small paddock, have his shoes put back on, a week in the field next to the boys then back in with them. The vet has told Hubby he could be back in the saddle in three weeks. After Saturday Hubby is dreading it!!!

Edited to say this is after 6.5 weeks of box rest for a fractured leg.

PMSL at Tigger on Speed! Got some very funny images in my head! Seriously though glad to hear he's doing well, hope he continues to do so and is a little more relaxed when your Hubby gets on

Love the description. We went through similar when turning our pony out for the first time, its nerve wracking isn't it? You've done well to get him out after 6.5 weeks, we had 3+ months of accumulated energy to deal with! Hope he continues with a speedy recovery.

Thats amazing news.TRhe horse at my yard did the same injusry at about the same time and hes still on box rest. he had 6 weeks with the huge bandage and splint on and now hes got another 6 with it off, then walking out, riding out, then turn out alone
