My horse is a bit sore in front. Not sure if it's due to him being shod a few days ago, or if he tweaked himself in the field, or what. No swelling, no heat, no obvious cause. It's only in trot, walk and canter do not seem affected. *sigh* Another vet bill, here we come. Maybe now would be a good time to join the TB injury hotline... And he's been going so well too! Argh. Figures, right?! Wine, cheese, & crackers to all for putting up with my whining! :D

my boy is exactly like this. sound in walk and canter but lame in trot (about 3-4/10ths). His is actually from his back we have discovered after much feeling and prodding, think he did it looning about in field/rolling. He looks sound behind but actually the problem is by his hip but making him short in front so he looks sore there.
I wouldnt rush to get vet out yet personally. I am waiting and giving mine a week off he is out in day and in at night to prevent too much looning about. (on a clamer tho)
Hope yours comes sound soon, mine improved after 1 day of box rest

Thanks, that sounds pretty similar to how mine is going. I'll see how he goes tomorrow and go from there. He doesn't tend to be too loony in the field, though he does like to come charging up when he sees me if he's a ways away.

Poor lad, the look on his face after I pulled him up and took him back was one of 'was it something I did?'. He really loves to work and gets so bored doing nothing.

I'd agree with not rushing - mine went lame two weeks ago, we've been hosing and left her in the field and she came sound by last Sunday. No idea what caused it. If she's still sound by this Sun I'll pick her back up again. Saved me a vet bill... What would the diagnosis and treatment have been if I had got vet out? Expensive diagnosis or none at all, rest, hose, see what happens? I told myself that for free!
Obviously I wouldn't do that if she was hopping. Yours might just be sore from shoeing, as you said :)
