Share horse of 18 months went today. took us nearly 3 hours, half a sedaline and a tube of instant magic to get him in there. And several lunglines. Was quite traumatic for all concerned. I have done some work on his loading issues so i could get him onto the trailer quite easily. But he wouldn't stay in there long enough to be tied up or have the ramps up. Once we eventually got him on he was all calm and sleepy though. Glad i went even though it was so upsetting, we do have a good bond and he calmed down when i was with him. Just feel awful that he kept coming to me for comfort but i couldn't make the scaryness stop.
He got there unscathed in the end though. Just wish id had a few more weeks to get him more used to loading. Miss him already. Got back to yard and another horses head was over the gate at 'his' spot, really hit me then. Sure if he's got hay he will have forgotten all about his scary day by now though.
