The vet and Beautys Owner's Mum out today ( I should mention that Beautys owner is only 27) turns out Beauty isn't 39 ... shes 43 ! Also the vet has suggested that as she is so full of life and obviously not ready to go or completly retire that I take her for 5 min hacks 1 or 2 times over 2 weeks.

So she has gone from 39 - unridable

to 43 - slightly ridable

I should point out that theese would be tiny hacks to keep her muscles in shape of something.

wow, to get such an accurate age from that he is magical.

Indeed, trying to age a horse above 20 is wildly inaccurate.

Tbh looking at her condition in the photos on the link I'd personally not be riding her, I think you'll struggle to fit a saddle to her with a back like that anyway?

TBH I probably won't be riding, there is a tiny 6 year old on our yard ( got to be about 4 stone) I wondered that about the saddle, so I didn't put it on.

I'm not sure about the aging thing, the vet just said he thinks she is about 43/44 ish. Not even sure if she has a passport I can check

aw come on people don't be catty.

The OP obviously thinks the world of this lovely old lady and is trying to do what is best under the advice of the vet.

OP - I hope you and Beauty enjoy yourselves and she continues to have a very happy semi retirement
