Yesterday Chills and I headed out to do some jumping! The showground was really busy, as there were also showing (both ridden and inhand) and workers rings, a dog show, agility demonstration, a bouncy castle, falconry display and a whole host of other stalls and food stands! If anyone read my showcross report, you may remember that standing around and waiting for more than two minutes was pretty difficult for myself and chilli (I ended up with a facefull of dirt:o).

We got there with plenty of time before our classes so I took her for a little walk around the show ground and she seemed pretty relaxed so hopped off, crossed her stirrups and stood in a bit of shade so she could graze and take in her surroundings. She wasn't bothered!

She felt good but strong in the warm up. So I went in for my first class feeling fairly confident even though I have been suffering pretty badly from nerves recently. Anyone who has seen my previous threads will know that Chills and I had a near miss on the roads that shattered my confidence. We had a few faults in the 85cm and so ended up 6th. Everyone in the class faulted so we all jumped off and what's annoying is we had the fastest clear jump off with a cracking tight turn leaving a stride before a Swedish oxer which she flew!! However our faults from the first round meant we were still sixth. And guess what, dad didn't press the record button for the first round and mum forgot to film the jump off!

Pics that a friend got from the 85cm:

Swedish oxer, no problem-haven't jumped one of those in years!

Fan jump, no issue!

Oxer, no worries!

So onto the 95cm, we had the first fence down but the rest of our round was clear. She started having a poo on our approach and became disunited :D:D Mum didn't start filming till the second fence though, so we don't have that cracking moment on video... There was one dodgy moment where we saw a bad stride to fence 4 and took a long one and I took a flight on Chilli Airlines.
We jumped off for first and second place as myself and another rider were tied with four faults each in the first round. It was all going well until we had a disagreement around the corner as she was looking at something outside the ring to the triple and we slid to a stop in front of it. The bell rang to start again once it had been put up again to restart the time and we circled round and jumped it with no issues-horses eh!! We finished second because of our faults. What's really annoying is that if we had jumped clear we would have won because even with all the time we wasted circling we still had a faster time than the winning rider as we took many more tight routes etc... Oh well, the best combination on the day won! And her pony was a cracking little coloured that reminded me of my old pony :)

So it wasn't the best day, but really I was just pleased that we got around our first 95 together in one piece and that she relaxed while we were waiting! I have to remind myself it's just one refusal, and not the end of the world. I am determined not to let this knock my confidence! It was a miscommunication and we got over it in the end! Sadly we just had to have a blue rosette instead of a red one :D

Anyway, here are pics and a video from the first round of the 95...

Swedish oxer, again no troubles!

So overall, it wasn't the best day but not the worst! Things can only improve hopefully!

Bonus pic of me and Chilli where she looks totally thrilled...

Thank you for reading all this! Hopefully you're all enjoying the lovely weather. I know I'll be making the most of it plonking my bottom in front of the TV for the cross country this afternoon!

Did anyone else have fun with their ponies this weekend?

H and Chilli :) xx
