their ankle written off if they wear wellies [hunter/barbour style] extensively?

Every single pair I've had, completely writes my ankle off after a while of wearing them - more so from walking than riding in. [Correct size - not too big or too small, nor does it actually dig in anywhere badly where it happens which is the wierd thing!]

I'll get a small cut on the back of my ankle [on the dippy in bit right at the back] and consequently, my ankle is then written for a week or so as can't bend it normally/walk on it fully/etc and comes up swollen and stiff within a few hours after.

Am I just wierdly alone with this or does anyone find this too?

I'm sat here, hobbling with a straight leg getting laughed at alot for my idiotic walk I've got going on. LOL.

I've always had this, with every different type of welly - Hunter, Barbour, etc. I don't know why I bother wearing them tbh as everytime I say to myself NOT to buy yet another pair to try or wear again! [But always do anyway...*rolls eyes* I will NOT use wellies anymore after this!]

That's the silly thing, I do find them sooooo comfy! Until about 4 weeks later and *bam* out of nowhere my ankle gives out on me.

Only ever happens in wellies. Same every single time for every pair :(

I live in mine all year round when I am outside at home and have never had this problem. I do get blisters or hard skin on my heel if they are very worn out though!

Do you use good quality cotton socks in them?

You could try some boot liners in the winter.

Yep, I've tried every variety of trying to stop it.Thick socks, thin socks, the hunter welly socks, multiple layers of socks....tried every combo possible but same thing happens regardless :(

Think I just don't have welly feet! They don't like me lol XD

I grabbed some wellies (hunters I think!) which were too big, to go down to our lovely muddy fields with. Little did I know we were going to Far Field, which lives up to its name as its a 15 minute road walk away! So for the first 15 minutes I was trying to stop Bonnie Coblet eating my face, and the next 15 were spent hobbling back to the yard :(

*sigh* Will we ever learn?!

I can't even get my foot round the bend into Hunters! Have a very high instep and just can't get them on - muchly annoyed as OH bought me a pair for Christmas and daughter (aged 11) swiped them as they fit her feet perfectly (SIZE 6), leaving me yet again with no wellies that fit!
