I bought a nice pair of Rockfish wellies at the end of November, and they have split already! Rockfish being very good an issuing me a refund, but do I go for another pair of the same, or go back to good old Hunters?
Don't bother with the Hunters given that they've been bought out so quality has gone down hill massively. They're no longer Hunter of Scotland either, aka they're now made abroad.
Your best bet would be Le Cheamau's which you can get the basic ones for the same cost of Hunters
My wellies are from Dickie's (my dad gets Dickie's stuff cheap through work, but they're only about £15 without the discount). They have steel toe caps, a godsend for me because I'm not very good at keeping my feet out of the way of hooves, and they're techincally men's wellies so they have nice wide calves which is good for chubby me! They're very plain, just black and not particularly attractive, but they do the job and they're very comfy. I would recommend them, particularly to anyone who finds it difficult to get boots to fit their calves. They're kitemarked for safety too, being made for workmen on building sites and stuff.

Wonder if that explains why my Hunters, which I`ve had for at least six years and do everything in, hardly ever off my legs, have lasted so long? I want a new pair but not so sure now if the quality has gone down.
I have a pair of Le Chameau wellies but they have a grippy calf that makes them really hard to get off - nearly dislocate my knee joint pulling them off!
I've had my Aigles for over 4 years and I swear by them. Not the warmest (as with most wellies!) but with a few pairs of socks and fleecy wellie liners they're fine. Fit really well as they mould to your feet and are really comfortable.
Joules are cheap and very cheerful. Hunter quality has dropped however the balmoral bamboo carbon from hunter are good. Le chameau are your best bet. the outlast are the warmest and retail at £160. However the warmest is prob Muck boot company, derwent from them is the toughest with a good chunky sole for the same price as hunter original at 54.99
I have a really fab pair of ariat wellies that i've had since xmas and cannot rate any other pairs of wellies. i wear them everyday and you can also ride in them (they have a special sole) so I always ride in them and it feels like normal riding boots, they are really good quality so will not spilt etc, and they keep my feet really warm (even if it's minus something and i only have tights on my feet!!).
They are pricey (about £50 i think) but they are worth every penny, especially if you're to be spending long hours in them regularly as they have a proper sole that supports your feet too
I have some muckboot wellies and they keep my feet lovely and warm. They also have a big split in them but as they are lined with neoprene the water does not get through. I have had the same pair for at least 7 years I think and still plenty of life left in them.
Another vote for Ariat. I wear mine every day and my feet do not get cold. I also suffer from Raynaud phenomenon, basically I'm hyper sensitive to cold in hands and feet!
I have had most cheap and medium priced wellies, some have only lasted weeks, others months. Also love the ariat ones which lasted about 6 months before splitting so longer than hunters and muckboots did. I do live in wellies and ride and walk allday in them so they do get abused, we have alot of mud so wellies are the only option here.
I haven't yet tried le chameau which I am thinking of as my next buy as I've heard nothing but good about them, £100+ does seem alot for a pair of wellies though, never paid more than £40-50 before.

Yeah I have had my Le Cheamau's for nearly 3 years now - wear them most days, all day. Still have fab soles, don't leak and the best bit? My feet don't get cold unlike when wearing hunters!! Only boring bit is the colours!
I really like muck boots, they are really warm, and last years! I would never buy another pair of hunters, the quality is appauling(sp), my last pair only lasted 6 weeks! Joules wellies are also a complete waste of money, the pair I had lasted less than a week!!!!!!!! I am currently using Toggi ones with a neoprene lining which I have had about 3 months, and so far are still in one piece, so i'm pretty happy as they were not expensive!
