After getting a pair of Caldene neoprene wellies last month on the 27th October I got to the yard today, went to get big lad out of the field, stepped in a puddle and realised I've got wet feet...

Needless to say I am not impressed to say the slightest after having them less than a month looking at my feet and realising they've got a blinking hole in the seam!! Fuming actually!! Especially at they cost £70!! My cheapies lasted a lot longer!:mad::mad::mad:

I have rang robinsons where I got them from and have been told I have to take them back (and they want me to bloody clean them first and dry them out I might add!) so they can have a look at them!

I am most definately not getting another pair of those!! I am now wondering if anyone has the hunter balmorals neoprene and would like to know if they're any better than caldene's pathetic offerings.

Ideally would like something that has a bit of staying power and will last a decent length of time if anyone has any other suggestions!

A bit of a rant as I am so angry, and also after any suggestions please :)

I can't decide between the hunters you've mentioned, la chameau or muck boots so will be interested in replies too.

Friends muck boots lasted less than a year, that's why I haven't got those...

Was going to get the balmorals that are neoprene lined not the muck boot style ones, but may try the others.

The only reason I never got the hunters in the first place was because my feet where stuck at right angles, couldn't move ankles much, but for warm dry feet I can put up with that.

I bought a pair of Shires wellies from Robbies, they lasted me 3 weeks. I got a refund and went to Lidl where they were selling coloured wellies £9.99. They've lasted well and had loads of abuse and my lovely son bought me some gorgeous Hunters with flowers on for my birthday in case I go in posh mud!

Posh mud :D love this clippy.

The only reason I got expensive ones is cos I'm a wimp and wanted warm feet. My cheapies lasted 3 years from sports direct. And I think they cose be about a tenner... But they were chilly.

Infact I think they're still going strong until I get a new pair. Thankfully I never binned them!

I'm on the fourth year with my muckboots, but do look after them and make sure to hose off any mud, muck and wee. Still going strong, warm and waterproof, bar some slight wearing on the inside back of the heel.

Wouldn't give hunter the one if day anymore, mine split after just over a year when the majority of the time they were being worn in summer!!

Ariat mud busters have good reviews from what I have heard.

Aigle never again will I go for hunters!!!!

They are not made in china. I have worn mine every day for 14 months dog walks, mucking out, milking, steam fairs and they still look brand new.

Will look into those!

The hunters I was looking at are supposed to be urine resistant so good for mucking out but will look at others first. I was a bit reluctant to get the hunters as I've been told they don't live as long as they used to. My friend spoke to the manufacturers when she complained about them being not as good as they used to be. They said something about changing materials as they were sitting in landfills decades later, with no change. Personally I'd like this from wellies. Bring back the good old days when you could stand them in a puddle years running and hey still wouldn't leak!

Will also look at the aigle ones.

Is it such a crime to want clean, dry and warm feet?!

I refuse to buy exspensive wellies and won't let anyone buy me any as I always manage to stab myself in the foot with the fork within 2 weeks and then they have a hole in lol!

Sorry but my Aigle wellies have started to leak this year and although they are three years old I've hardly had to wear them the two previous winters. I had high hopes that they would last longer for £85.

For the last four or five years I have had Tyne Muck Boots. However, they only ever last me a year. I wear them all year round and ride in them as well.

This year I decided get some Ariat Mud Busters - at £70 I thought they would last longer. The muck boots always wear on the inside at the back of my heels and end up giving me blisters after a year!

I loved the Ariats, although they didn't keep my feet as warm (but there was plenty of room for an extra pair of sock) they were great. However, after two months they split and I got a wet foot! I contacted the place I got them from and have sent them back for a refund. They agreed they should have lasted longer than two months. Hopefully, I will hear this week if I am getting a refund.

I also had to clean them - but I can understand that.

I have gone back to Tyne Muck Boots.

Having had problems with the usual suspects- hunters, muckboots and aigle's have all fallen apart in much less time than they should have- I took a punt on a 'new' brand at my local tack shop after a recommendation from a friend- 'Gumleaf'- got the neoprene lined ones for extra warmth... £60 ish so not cheap, but not massively expensive either... very comfortable (like walking on air!) and warm, and so far, so good regarding wear. I've had mine three months and worn them daily- my friend has had hers over a year and says they are still just as warm, comfortable and most important, waterproof as when new!

I went through this recently, trying to find some that wouldn't fall apart.
Hunters only last me 6 months, before they split, get holes in them.
I thought about getting the Balmorals this time, with neoprene, but I did a lot of online research, including reading reviews on amazon, and they have very poor reviews. They look sturdier than the Originals, but in practice they aren't, and they also fall apart / develop holes.

Ariat Mudbusters - I considered these as well, but also read reviews from people saying they develop holes within 3 months.

Muckboots - tried these as well, but because they are only half rubber - up to the ankle, then they are full neoprene, I felt they wouldn't do the job, the neoprene would get covered in mud, and I wasn't sure how well you could hose them off.

I tried the Aigles in a Scats shop near me, but they seemed to be more of a man's fit, big, bulky, clumpy, too big for my calf. Very well suited for blokes though :)

I finally decided on Le Chameau's - Vierzonord style, ladies wellies, neoprene lined. They're expensive, cost me £160. However, they have fantastic reviews everywhere (I looked on farmers forums, anglers, stalkers forums). Also have a 2 yr warranty. Everyone I have personally spoken to that has Le Chameau's say that after 7 years they are still going strong. I wasn't that keen on the look of them, but they fit well, were as comfy as slippers, they're very warm, they stay on (despite deep mud trying to suction them off your feet), and with the length of time they should last, I decided to overlook the visual aspect. I then saw a pic of the Duchess Kate wearing these exact boots, Kate Moss too, and I thought, if they're good enough for them, they're good enough for me :)) The only thing I wish I could have had with these wellies was a steel toe, but I guess you can't have everything.

I'll never buy another pair of Hunters...they were really disappointing. I went through three pairs, each lasting only 6-8 months. I only just found out there is a one year warranty, so unfortunately my others were never sent back.

I was in Germany a week ago, and saw a really cool brand of wellies out there, you can get them on the Zalando website (have a peek in google) here in the UK - the brand is called Giesswein. I love them, they look very sturdy and practical, they were comfy too, and reasonably priced.
Very cool looking: http://www.zalando.co.uk/giesswein-...=CLLLlvfa6LMCFUfJtAodEFgAqw&wmc=SEM44_1879005

- but I am not sure how long they last.

I used to have hunters but as lots of people have found out, they are now rubbish! So I debated what to get and have settled for cheap town and country wellies and then when I go to Olympia I will get some dubarry type boots

I find wellies last me on average 3 months irrespective of make as I wear them roughly 3 to 4 hours a day. Now I buy Dunlop wellies for £10 and super thick trainer insoles for £5, this gives you warm feet at a very reasonable cost. Once they start leaking throw them away and buy another £10 pair! I noticed someone earlier in this post does a similar thing.

Neoprene lined Le chameau if you can afford them, have seen a few on eBay going for sensible prices, and also some cheap rip off ones of similar design I might give a try, cool in summer, warm in winter :-)

I usually get muck boots and they last about 2 years which isn't bad and they are very warm and comfy. Was thinking about hunter balmoral but heard mixed things. Also the new ariat derwent which you can also ride in. Might go for le chameau as it's nearly Christmas!

I kicked off with Hunter about the Quality of their Hunter Original Boots which are only a copy of the original Boot and they sent me a pair of Balmoral Bamboo Carbon Boots that are now 3 years old and they are doing fine worn for shooting and beating but I still prefer my Dubarry Boots.

Going against all this, my Hunters are about a year old now and are very waterproof and still look as good as new (when I take the time to clean them that is )

me, I cannot pay £300 for boots that I wear to poo pick, do the fencing and traipse round the chicken pens. I could justify them if I was working in them all day but not for what I do. £300 is a month's rent for my yard, trimming for 8, a years worth of horse insurance (or car) bla bla bla.

for around the yard I wear rigger boots, fleece lined, grippy and resistant to all sorts of stuff-£80, 3 years old and going strong.

H have a set of hunter balmoral's that are getting on a bit and I spotted the ariat mud busters and thought they might be a good choice. Found a review of them that was pretty good. Her is a link. http://www.centralsaddlery.co.uk/ri...video/in-depth-review-of-the-ariat-mudbuster/ they seem to rate them really highly but I would love to here what you guys think? Someone said they had a pair. How are they holding up?

I would love some advice from somebody who has a set.

hi ive had 3 pairs of mudbusters in less than 2 years and theyve all leaked ,2 pairs are replacements from ariat after the sole came away in the same place within weeks  the 3rd pair have lasted about a year and now have split on the side . ariat customer service is wonderful but the boots are rubbish . im now bootless:mad:

Well after reading this thread im so glad its not just me that has been having issues with hunters!

Is there any type of boots everyone agrees on!?

I went through Muckboots, Hunters and Joules wellies in one winter.

I bought a pair of Toggi neoprene wellingtons & have been really impressed - under £40 and looking and 10 months on, look as good as new!
