Hi, I have a 2 yr old welsh filly that I want to show very soon.
I am confused however, as both parents are A's, but down the line of mum, there is Welsh pony and cob type too.
Does this mean my girl is not a purebred welsh A?
I don't think she has an A head.

She doesn't look like a purebred to me.

It will say on the passport if she is Welsh A is it a Welsh passport?

The breeder will also be on there maybe you can contact them.

I have contacted the breeder, and she is pure bred welsh A. There is sometimes variation in head shape, but that's normal in the breed. So all good.
 
I have two section As, they have the same grandsire, and both have Section A pedigrees stretching back for generations, but one of them looks just like a B - entirely different build to the other. Genetics are weird 😂
 
WPCS website have a table on their website, but she can still be pure welsh if she’s had some other sections in her breeding down the line - my D is mainly C breeding but grew overheight, C on my yard is A x D but registered C (see table).

C/D will depend on height, i *think* with A/B it’s set in stone that what you cross will determine what they’re registered as. if someone has bred C into the line i’d imagine they were just hoping for something with a bit more bone or height!
